Decided to make a thread where we can keep all our US political discussions, republican bashing, Obama worshiping in one place. I've had two days to digest the amazing events of November 4th...

He's already making good on his transparency promises. Check out his new website. Change.gov

I'm really glad that he's decided to keep using the internet as a way to connect with younger voters and get his message out. He seems to know that he has to embrace technology in order to communicate effectively with the people. I'm loving it.

I'm also loving his chief of staff pick. He's like the enforcer of the democratic party, which will go very well with Obama's "nice guy" demeanor. Good cop, bad cop. Check out his wiki page.

wasn't one of the major points of the Obama campaign to work with the republicans to put through his ideas? why would having a chief of staff who pisses them off be a good thing?

gloating and an US vs THEM mentality are things that democrats hate about republicans, why do you want to perpetuate something that obv splits people apart?

Um...it's not just Republicans who are upset about this pick, a lot of Democrats are as well. Did you want me to spoon feed you all the pros and cons of this choice? People think he'll be excellent when it comes to keeping the Democrats in line. Enforcer in those terms.

I'm well aware of the slant. I didn't quote it. I gave a link. If people want more links, they can follow the wiki page I linked them to. I read a lot of websites. I posted the huffinton post link to this story because it actually presented both sides of the argument for this chief of staff pick. And if you read the reader comments, a lot of other links are provided, both in favour and against, to support arguments.

What issue did you have with my post? The fact that I offered my opinion about Obama's pick? I though I made it clear that this thread was about discussion...I don't have anyone else's opinion to offer but my own.

1. i don't think it's obama's job to try and make the republicans happy. it's his job to choose the best guy for the job. one who's able to help him lead and keep members of his party in line. RE is a centrist, which is needed to keep the crazy leftists in line. my opinion is that when it comes to decisions, obama probably needs to put the country first, his party second, and the republicans last. but that's just my opinion.

why would the specific outcome of complaining republicans be evidence that an appointment is a good choice? i am not taking an objection to the choice of the person, i am taking objection to the idea that making people you have pledged to work with mad is a positive thing.

my opinion, which i have stated, is that that validating an action because it pisses off someone who is in another political party is not proactive and is ultimately divisive. it works against what is trying to be achieved by the obama government.

First off, I was more commenting on Rawb's post...

Second off, Maybe the huffpost shouldn't use the slogan: "The internet's newspaper" if they want to be considered a blog, and thus not held to the same standards as other news websites...

And third off, I didn't refer to your article at all, just in general. And denying that the huffpost has a huge left wing bias would be a little out there...

Or list on their about us page jobs such as: Editor, Reporters, Associate News Editors, Senior News editor...

Giving the clear indication they consider themselves a news source, not a blog.
