grey area, has the best weed, if you ask for directions youll get them.

if you have 10 days id only spend 4 or 5 in a-dam, look into where else you would like to go with the rest of your time, a-dam is a trap dont get stuck there, you have the best train system ever to go wherever you like.

Be careful, kid. Don't want to get caught up in that Marihuana stuff that I hear is so popular over there

Accommodation:
The Flying Pigs hostel has some great reviews, definently try to stay in a place in the centre, as mentioned before its a walking city.

Food:
raw herring sandwich
waffle cookies (check candy stores)
bitterballen (soo good!) deep fried shredded beef & mash potato balls

Attractions:
Walking tour - FREE, but make sure to tip your guide
Rembant Museum - My fav art museum of all Europe... but Rembrant and Vermeer have always been my favorite renaissance artist. The Van gogh museum was a little disappointing.
Ann Frank's House - Never made it due to huge lines on a rainy day
Market - I forget what street its on, but theres a market near the center that sells lots of cute dutch things. I bought a small buquette of wooden tulips, TOTALLY DUTCH!
Cafes' - this is NOT dutch culture, totally made for the tourist
Red Light district - its everywhere, walking through it was enough, again made for tourists
Sex Museums - humerus and slightly educational in a historical sense. There are at least two of them.

Must do:
RIDE A BIKE!!!
Try to speak some dutch (even though they all speak English)
This is a wicked city to just wonder, very friendly, LOVE THE PEOPLE!!!

Amsterdam is 3-5 days max. Get out of the city if you can, check out the wind mills, coastal towns, and fishing villages (lots of good sea food) I stayed in a wiked hostel that was a 13th century castle!!! Forget what its called, but is part of the stayok/YHA hostel group.

Beat Tweaka is an unknown quantity at this point
I'm only really skim-reading but I didn't notice anyone commenting on the shrooms?!

I'd recommend going to a place called 'Conscious Dreams' - really good people that own the shop and sell good shrooms. They were doing up and renovating the back room making it all 'psychodelic' when i was there about a year ago. I head a rumour that shrooms are illegal there now? Too many people thinking they could fly apparently.

If you want a cool park to 'chill out' in I recommend Vondel (spelling) Park - really good on the shrooms etc.

Also, the Amsterdam Dance Event should be on around nowish - i was there last year got to meet Laidback LUke, Mark Knight, Swedish House Mafia, and D.Ramirez all in the space of 3 nights - highly reco'd!

Haha... I saw some Chinese dude here in Richmond buzzing around on his bicycle with his lil kid sitting on the crossbeam type pipe (the connection from the handlebar neck to seat part) on a busy street here with no helmets. What a fool, not cool.

we got some shrooms and went out to domburg on the north sea, stayed in an empty castle thats turned into a hostel, freaky shit in the middle of nowhere. Spent the night sitting on the back porch surrounded by the water with the guy that worked there. We got up the next day and drank mushroom tea, rented bikes and rode around this little town.

Like I say get out of a-dam, the little communities are amazing.
