Go to Boracay. White sand beaches.. Island is long but narrow in the middle (walkable from one 'coast' to the other - about a 7 minute walk).... IF you go to Manila .. keep your watch in your pocket (people have been known to lose their limbs b/c they had nice watches on, keep your wallet in your front pocket..
You MUST check out Mega Mall .. IMO puts West Edmonton Mall to shame... TO SHAME!

Honestly, you don't have to bring any personal belongings (just what you wear to the airport (no luggage).. b/c you WILL buy clothes, shoes and EVERYTHING there for CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP ... don't buy anything at the malls though there are PLENTY other places to get great quality things (or Authentic Replicas, if you don't mind - really, there's a name brand out there called this... I saw a pair of track pants out there that had the Nike check mark, the Adidas stripes, the Converse star AND Fila FILA on it and the inside label was an embroidered tag saying Authentic Replica... at the time (year 2000), 300 pesos .. equivalent to $10.00 CDN.
Seriously though, look around, there's many MANY places for great quality items. You'll find places where the shop owner will bargain with you.. it's awesome!!
