Boo!
Tell me a ghost story!
One that happened to you. Poltergeist, apparition, manifestation, anything! I'll start: One day, in my mom's house, I had a g/f over and we were watching tv in the basement. (Mom's house is haunted) My brother barges in and says he's having a party that night (parents and li'l sis outta town). NO! is my response, because I didn't want to deal w/ any bullshit or clean-up/damage. Too late!, he says, and takes off. Pissed, I'm bitching at me g/f, when a painting jumps off the wall, just behind her. Did NOT fall down, picture hook fine, and did NOT fall straight down, but outward before down! Lord! One of far too many! Frosty (waiting to get creeped-out) |

This happened to me a couple months ago and I posted it on my Facebook notes, so here is a copy and paste:
I am generally not a believer in haunted stories, but I just got creeped out enough tonight to not be able to sleep, and that NEVER happens to me. Coming to the Hotel in Kelowna, the pilots & I were picking room keys and it just so happened that I got dealt Room 444. I initially felt a bit weird about it, because even in Japanese culture, the number "4" has the same connotation as it does in Chinese culture, where it is a highly unlucky number. If you don't know, "4" translates to "Shi", which means death in Japanese. I didn't think too much about it, until later on in the night. I was sleeping in my bed until I got a loud wake-up call. The phone just rang continuously with no breaks in the ring, which is unlike normal calls from these hotel phones (which tend to be broken up into rings). I woke up and ran to my phone, thinking that maybe it was already time for my 4 am wake-up call... But when I picked up the phone, all I heard was static and a clicking noise... and it was in fact, only 9:35 pm. I hang up the phone, but as soon as I do, the phone rings again in that same continuous ringing tone. I notice that line one says it's already busy, and that line two is also lit (which I guess is where the call is now coming from). I try to hang up the phone numerous times, but it still keeps ringing constantly. Eventually, annoyed by the high pitched continuous ringing, and not wanting to wake-up my neighbours, I unplug the phone. This solves the problem (it would be creepy if it didn't), but what's even more creepy is that as soon as I plug it back in, it immediately begins ringing again as though it were never unplugged. Finally, I decide to leave the phone unplugged and leave it that way for the next 10 minutes. I plug it back in, and the ringing stops. Creeped out, I try to brush the incident off as a front desk programming error with regards to my wakeup call, and decide to go back to bed. However... Just as I'm dozing off again, the phone rings again. This time, it's 10pm - just 25 minutes after the first call. I do the same routine as before, picking up the phone only to receive static and a clicking noise. Line 1 & 2 are both lit again. Finally, I decide that unplugging the phone is my only option. Just to be sure, I try plugging the phone in again to see if the problem is resolved immediately (as you'd assume it would be), but as soon as I plug it in again, the phone starts ringing again. This time, I leave the phone unplugged, and this time, I'm really uncomfortable. If it's a wrong call, why the silence and static on the other line? I am near shitting my pants at this point. I call front desk from my cellphone and tell them what happened, and explain to them that I need to wake up early tomorrow, so I can't keep having calls like this to my room phone. What creeps me out is that the front desk guy sounds genuinely baffled by my experience, as though he's never heard anything like it happening before. He tells me that there are no hotel-wide issues, and that the only thing he can think of is that there must be a wiring problem with the phone which is causing it to go off the hook. He asks me if my phone is working, to which I respond that it is, because I had placed a call to front desk earlier in the evening for a wake-up call. He tells me that my options are that I can get maintenance to send up a new phone, or he will send up someone to manually give me a wakeup call to my door at 4 am. |

Shooting a scene of BattleStar Gallactica @ Alibi Room, we finished the work upstairs, and the unit moved downstairs to a cramped hideout/bunker set put together. Around 3pm.
I stayed upstairs. There was me, the 2nd AD across the room by the front door, and 2 staff behind the bar. When they rolled, downstairs, the AD called cut, and gave us shit because they said they could hear us walking around during the take. Not one of us moved during the roll. I was open-mouthed staring @ the 2nd AD by the door, and he just shrugs and says, "Copy." Take 2. AD Yells "CUT" and gives us shit, again, saying they can hear people walking around during the roll. 4 of us! Upstairs. No one was moving. Take 3. We get shit AGAIN! They hear people walking around above them. Wide-eyed, the 2nd AD stare @ each other. The Alibi Room, in fact, has a history, I found out, later. It's included in a book where it's reported that the BC Paranormal Society (or whatever they're called) investigated the pub. Seems there _IS_ a rotten soul there who occassionally likes to slam the stall doors in the guy's loo. Frosty (next...) |
