Politicians like Al Gore found to have photo shopped images to put in his new book, after he has already flat out lied and grossly over exaggerated data to prove his point... This is nothing but fear mongering. Remember, a lot of these scientists have made their CAREERS out of government funding to research climate change... if they're now discovering there is no climate change, don;t yout hink they'd panic and try and hide the data so as to continue living the lifestyle they have grown accustomed? This bullying, fear mongering with doomsday scenario's, and profiteering is comparable to the Catholic Church. Now, who still thinks we should dump billions of dollars in to cutting down green house gasses, when recent data shows there is 0 warming over the past decade, and scientist have been less than honest?

I know it's a side note, but what I found interesting about this was that the New York Times said they wouldn't publish this story because they don't condone hackers stealing people's emails, but they published Sarah Palin's leaked emails... The moral of the story is, people are bias plain and simple. Maybe global warming isn't as bad as people think, maybe it's worse. Either way, why risk it, when we all know that we should be finding alternatives to some of our society's polluting byproducts?

If the evidence has been falsified, IE no legitimate evidence, and a conspiracy has actually been established; why would we continue to worry? Sure, it could exist, however so could god. Should we all convert to x religion to find salvation? And donate all of our money to x religion, in the hopes that our planet will not be destroyed?
Also, don't side step this one Nijaboy. You know as well as I do, that this board(Coffee Lounge) always has entertained discussions regarding politics and current events. I remember several discussions about global warming, that had heated debates, most of the poster's on this forum aggressive believers. This is a huge turn of events, yet no one brought it up for discussion.

People need to realize that in this situation we had a monopsony with the UN being that one customer, essentially hiring scientists to justify its world wide tax.
This is exactly like the pharmaceutical lobby or smoking and how their "scienitsts" work. There are TRILLIONS of dollars to be made on the back of global warming. follow the money

I agree that GW may be happening, and it is possible that human's have caused it- however, especially with the new information that has been unearthed, I think there is far too little credible information to completely overhaul the world, and punish the 1st world countries while letting the developing world off the hook, compromising the world economy even further during a recession....

Not to mention it was more than 2 scientists involved in the e-mails. Articles simply just show 2 main individuals involved in the research
Also, the information that they had refused to release, showed a 0.0 degree warming effect in teh past 10 years. That is the research by the institute in question, that refused to release their findings.

I said that I agree that it *could* be happening. I'm not egotistical enough to believe myself to be all knowing. Facts, figures, theories, theories dissproving theories- have all been concocted by human beings. We are flawed, therefore our methods may be flawed.
Do I believe humans are causing climate change? No. Personally I think it more plausible that heating and cooling trends are caused by solar flares, and that as the earth heats, CO2 is released from the Ocean. However anything is possible, NinjaBoy. As an agnostic, my beliefs extend beyond just religion in to science. I don't know what's out there, I don't know what drives the forces of the universe. Anything is possible.

in 1 post, directed at rawb, I stated that. It was a beak. You can't base my entire thread on one hostile post.
I stand by my initial post. Regardless, what has gone on IS fear mongering possibly for political or financial motivation. The earth may have been heating in the 80's and 90's, but it hasn;t for the past decade. In the 50's and 60's scientists believed we were entering in to an ice age... Climate definitely changes, however the assertion that it is constantly WARMING due to HUMAN ACTIVITY year after year is proving to be less credible.

Whether this information is right or wrong, it's a little too late going into the Copenhagen summit, and we'll all be raped by the carbon tax. Frankly I like my 42" flat screen.
