google is the fastest, most complete and most feature filled search.
it's amazing the amount of shit it does. but it is definately something advanced. yahoo is good for categorical search. yahoo (for the next little while anyways) falls back on google when it's own search can't find anything. yahoo's a good basic search for people that don't need something as advanced. all other searches are pretty damn shit. |

My favorite is Copernic
Its a free downloadable program that searches Google, Yahoo, MSN websearch, yahoo, netscape, aol, compuserve, euroseek, lycos, hotbot, wisenut, looksmart, open dictionary project, mamma, Find what, espotting, teoma, altvista, etc all at the same time within seconds, and you have tons of options for example you can choose to find up to 20 of the most relevant links per search engine, it saves all your searches for you, so next time you just need to click once. and you can organise them into folders etc etc etc whats cool about it is that you will find things that will for example show up on yahoo but not google theres a free download at http://www.copernic.com/desktop/index.html I feel like a salesman AGROout |

on a tangent, i miss altavista. it was insanely fast in its day, and the ability to use wildcards was much appreciated. it could return hits with nearly the same success as google, but i remember having to search endlessly through them to find the relevant site. Quote:
... anyone remember webcrawler? gah. it's still around. why! a better question would be, did anyone ever use gopher and the other various search engines before the www took over? |
