I'm working at the moment and I'm very disappointed to miss the powerful ultimatum speech.


Does anyone else have any thoughts or discussion points?


(Correct me if i'm wrong)

I thought the initial reason for war on IRAQ was for "harboring terrorist". Now its for
weapons of mass destruction.
Now all the weapons of mass destruction have been destroyed w/ the help of
other nations

I'm more worried about N Korea vs. IRAQ and their non existent weapons of mass destruction.


As for Bush and his speech.

He'll discuss the growing threat of terrorism and "chatter" and re-assure everyone to be calm, live day to day as normal.
Will order the terrorist meter to red or the highest level possible.. whatever that may be

There will be more filler as Bush tries to brainwash the yankees with a 2 second pause between every third and fourth word.

The speech will climax and close with a shitty haiku or simile about an eagle.. that represents the American way of life and how we must move together and unite to preserve that.

how is it vietnam part 2?

the US wasn't directly related to the vietnam war.. they just tried to intervine with the shit hapenning in vietnam at the time... then they realized the bit off more than they could chew so they pulled out.

i highley doubt that they will do that to iraq.. considering the last time they faught sadaam they lost like 3people due to a helicopter crash or something like that.

its gonna be a different war then the last gulf war..last time americans fought at a distance and when the ground war commenced it was limited to mainly kuwait whihc is open desert which was occupied by the shittest of iraq's troops. The elite and fanatical republican guard was held back inanticipation of an invasion of iraq which never materialized. Now alot of the fighting is anticipated to be in baghdad itself, due to the close quarters and largely civilian composition of the city the technical superority(blah) of the american military is minimized and the iraqi's are on a more equal footing, Kind of like the in the jungles of vietnam. secondly as already evidence by saddam's earlier actions, he ahs little regard for the lives of his own civilians, i wouldn't put it past him to make sure his own people pay a heavy price just to make public opinion of the war faulter. Given the circumstances this conflict has the potential to get pretty messy.

p.s It took about 10 years and 50,000 dead U.S soldiers for the U.S government to realize it bit off more then it could chew in vietnam, and the lost of life really wasn't the reason they pulled out, i think it had more to do with the mass protests about the war.

I was kind of speaking in terms of mass unpopularity.

Years ago, the fear was that the communists would win and take over the world, now it's the terrorists. Some kind of polarization is fairly evident in that the US government is basically asking its own citizens to spy on eachother for the good of the country that pretty much stinks on macarthyism.

It doesn't seem very different in that the US is really trying to justify this by saying they want to save the Iraqi people from their dictator? Hello, Vietnam?

Has anyone actually seen evidence of weapons of mass destruction? Biological? Chemical? Yes, there are 'reports' of such, but there really has been? They're going onto this on a hoax, an intiutuon. I'm not ruling out that there may be these weapons in the country, I just think that they're going about this in all the wrong ways.

If Bush doesn't think that this 'war' will unleash all sorts of attacks against the American homeland, or citizens abroad, he's really a moron.
