It's all called a matter of perception and the acceptability within social circles.
Another good example is that it is well documented that nicotine is a very addictive substance yet society allows people to puff away at will but not list it as a controlled substance. |

I forgot to add that 'raves' or all night dance parties are relatively new in Canada but in Europe, Japan and other parts of the world they are more part of the culture that goes on and is more accepted.
That and the fact they have very large nightclubs that people can frequent so the need to have parties is not a big deal. Here is something to make you think... Why is an apple called an apple and not a red? We are taught these things from day 1 and we accept it as the truth. We are all brainwashed in one form or another, to admit we are not is just choosing to be ignorant. |

apples are actually called apples because they come from the early french word "appeletaire" that means "of or relating to one's appetite". they got that name, naturally, because they stimulate your appetite.
also, some apples are green and/or yellow. |

etymology.
and i just pulled that whole post out of my ass cause i'm bored. wheeee. and like DUH, they say pomme because eve handed the apple to adam (with her "palm", all biblical style) and since back in the day france was totally religious - since they're close to spain after all, and you can't front on the inquisition - they called apples pommes, which is just an odd spelling of it. |

example: irish: peace ma bredren lassie. shamrocks and shenanigans for all our medeival france massif. ...but back to the story. see, this special name they had was Palm o' the Earth, cause every st. patty's way back in the day irish farmers would get just blitzed out of their asses and pass out in the potato fields - or as local tradition came to call it, they were "Restin in the Palm 'o the Earth". hence potato fields, and by extension potatoes came to be called Palms o' the Earth, which was then changed by my crazy french ancestors to Pomme de Terre, dig? |
