The Asian Plague
TORONTO (CP) - The World Health Organization has called the mystery pneumonia that is quickly spreading around the globe a new communicable disease.
The department said Monday there have been seven confirmed cases of SARS, all seen in people who either recently travelled to the Far East or who were in close contact with a person who contracted the ailment while travelling in that part of the world. On Sunday, it was estimated that as many as 10 Canadians -- including two people who have died -- had SARS or were suspected of having it. What are the SUSCEPTIBLE RISKS of going to raves where the majority population are of asian ethincity and not having to worry about contracting such a pandemic disease? |

The risk of contracting this is no greater at rave than it is at say, a shopping mall. Both places are rather crowded, and this being vancouver, there is going to be many asian people.
It's not just asian people who have it either. You're at risk basically anywhere you go. You could get it at a club, a rave, school, a shopping mall, on the street.. anywhere you're in close contact with PEOPLE, not just asians. I wouldn't worry.. People are going to die, you can't stop that.. we're due for this now anyways. |

"WHO has identified Hong Kong, Guangdong province in China, Hanoi in Vietnam, Singapore, Taiwan and Toronto in Canada as the affected areas."

^^ not so much, I'd be more worried about the influenza which is supposed to hit us soon. We're due for anepidemic about now.. the last one killed 20 million in 1918..
They thought this was it at first, but it's not. I'd be more worried about that one, than this.. |
