getting an EU passport?

ok so heres the deal....my father aswell as all of my grandparents were born in Ireland, bascily ive heard that if you are a first generation descendant of someone who was born in the counrty its pretty easy to get a passport or work visa, ive also heard that since ireland is a member of the EU i can get an EU passport which enables me to travel and work throughout the entire contient unimpeded...how do i go about getting a passport, also would i be able to get dual citizenship? ive heard that both canadian and irish governments arent too keen on letting people be dual citizens anymore.

whatever i hope i articulated my question we'll enough to recieve an informed answer...just read my sig for and explanaation as to why.

I have both polish and canadian passports if that helps with the dual citizenship question. Poland is part of the EU i think. However, I'm told i cant go there till im 25, since now that im 18 i can get thrown into the army there since i have citizenship there.

My little brother was born here but has Polish citizenship as well.

I'd contact the Irish embassy or the constabulary (if thats what its called - kinda like an embassy, but most big cities have one for most countries (Finland has one in Luxembourg) and u can do shit like pick up new passports there and whatnot, Im not sure what its called I only know the word in finnish...) and ask them. You can try to search some EU webpages but that could take a while...
