MESSENGER SERVICE !!!! Wanna get rid of these for FREE perminantly???

I already posted this, but after the FnK server crashed the post went missing... so once again here it is!

Ok people there are scam companies out there... ie) www.stopmessenger.com who charge users $25 american dollers to do this simple FREE setting on Windows 2000, or XP. This setting correction ONLY stops the grey MESSENGER SERVICE windows that software like "pop-up stopper" etc can not stop. note: If your computer is firewalled or protected within a network u probably arent beeing nagged by these messages, but for all the rest of us connected directly to the net.....

Do this:

START > SETTINGS > CONTROL PANNEL > ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS > SERVICES > 'MESSENGER'

* Once u click the MESSENGER service icon it opens a window with settings, simply change the SERVICE status to 'STOP', then the drop down box "Startup Type" to DISABLED!

Thats it people, NO MORE FUCKING GREY BOXES!!!!

it's a built in system service. yay windows!

for the super lazy/quick geek way to stop it, just type "net stop messenger" into a command prompt. if you're on a lan i highly recommend fucking with roommates/coworkers with the net send command first.

Start -> Run -> type in "command"

in the box that pops up type "net stop messenger" then type "exit".

voila, no more popups.
