The WRONG way to protest...
So, you hear about the one where a bunch of protesters against the American political system blocked the border crossing to prevent American trade in an attempt to hurt their economic system? If not, it has happened. Why? I haven't a clue. Considering how much Canada relies on that trade, it hurts our country's economy at the same time.
The only thing accomplished by doing such silly protests like blocking traffic is making people angry and blind to whatever it is you want them to see by interfering in their daily agendas. If people agree with your stance, then they don't need it rammed down their throats. If they don't agree, very little will change their mind, much less when their lives are interrupted by protest preachers relying on similar tactics as T.V. evangelists. |

Well, it's not that I agree with those tactics at all..
But don'tcha think the wrong way to go about a war is to constantly criticize a regime for going against the UN with their weapons sanctions only to turn around and wage war on this country without the UN's blessing? The part about stuff being rammed down people's throats, I can tell you I see all too much of that happening on BOTH sides. |

Very true... I mean i think the US is being pretty stupid about this whole thing, now their insisting on rebuilding the country basically by themselves without the UN. To the states the UN is just there to use as support whenever what is said goes in line with the US goals, and is dissmesed as "inefective" whenever it has something to say other than what the US wants to hear.
Anyway, thats not what this thread is about... So about the protestors. I agree people should voice their opinions, but for god's sake, some of these protestors are STUPID. Like blocking the bridge in van... I mean Canada doesnt even support the war, so lets fuck over our own city because were mad! Its stupid things like these that make people totally dismiss the opinions of protestors because their "damn hippies". If you want your voice to be heard, you have to do it in a way that wont totally ruin your credibility. |
