ho hum. i must admid that i have never taken a class on writing at all- so up until now i was very unaware that my writing was immature and predictable- or from the 4th grade- i like it- its the way i write- it makes sense to me and flows... i dont like to read peoms that arent easy to read or understand- they dont make sense to me. i really dont believe that i am stupid- at all- i have a college degree and graduated with honors. so think what you want to think- i guess- there is no way i can stop you- but no- i dont see what you are saying. maybe they would be childish if i was writing about puppy dogs and sunshine... but hey- whatevers ---
peace out yo g :keebler: |

I have never taken a course either, but whatever. I suppose what I'm saying is that often times people just focus in on one style of writing and use that for the rest of the their lives, never evolving from where they began. I mean what works for you, works I suppose. I never said that you were stupid, I am simply stating that the structure is quite alike many that I see.
You don't understand the poems that are "complex" and strung with many personal metaphors, similies, and things alike, probably because they are not written by you. You just want something that's direct and easy to follow. Fine. Do as you may, write as you want. What I'm saying is that it never hurts to try something new. I did, and I loved it... so who knows. |

haha the thread got entertaining when you were both freestyling against each other. That was funny,
ANYWAYS... it doesn't make a difference to receive an education within poetry, trust me. I took a course up @ SFU on "ENGLISH POETRY 100" and did I learn anything? No. It certainly did get me thinking about the meaning of poetry and yadayada but I'm back at the same conclusion that poetry is NOT limited to a certain style, structure, setting, person, or form. It doesn't matter if an "amateur" writes the way you did when you were 10, because trust me there's some really fucked up poetry that gets published regardless of grammatical correctness... I'd like to think that Poetry (as is any other form of art) is a form of self-expression. When people get so narrowed minded as to tell some one, who is a seperate, individual being, that their poetry is lesser than the "standard" of what good poetry should be, then the culture of art really starts to become SHIT. Why? Because I see that the qualities that make art difficult to define, are its best qualities. So who cares if some one is at an earlier stage than you. Good for you for bein an almighty poet, but what is a poet? I have yet to figure that out. One who spells without error in grammar? One who uses complex metaphors as opposed to simple and direct phrases? Perhaps, however there was a movement back when, where poets strove to make their poems as SIMPLE and DIRECT as possible, without metaphor or complex ideas. They obviously considered their work, as poetry... can't simplicity be just as poetic? I end my boring speech with e.e.cummings, some consider him a great poet, but for the rest of you, just another 10 year old who never evolved in style, I guess. AND WIN!I just hate 2 see it when people limit thier self expression with mediocre writing vices.Im not doubting the fact that she has potential I just honestly thin thjat she should put some serious thought into her work instead of spouting off random crap.
