Vancouver v.s North America
How do you guys think vancouver's electronica scene v.s the rest of north america in terms of party goer's, electronic music lovers, knowledge and types of electronic music. (for instance florida is all about breaks, uk is all about progressive trance ect...)

Depends on what music you like. If you like tech-house or deep house then yeah, Vancouver has a sweet scene. However, if you like trance, then Vancouver's scene isn't all that great in comparison to other major North American cities.
Also like Mechwarrior said, most big cities have large followings of different genres (Vancôuver just happens to be most house- in clubs atleast). Also Im pretty sure florida breaks aren't the "big thing" in Florida, but rather latin house (or atleast in Miami).

I've seen the DnB scene in San Fran first hand. Now THAT is a DnB scene! But then again, when DJ's/producers like UFO!, Hive, Elektra, Qzen, Sage, Abstract, etc etc, all call the city home, it's really no wonder. :D

yeah i understand about the many genre's... florida breaks was just an example... becuase i didn't know how to word the question...hehhe....but do u guys think we have a decent scene overall.... or still weak compared to rest of north america..... besides the fact that all american cities have more people than all of canada.

Vancouvers not bad compared to the rest of North America considering the fact that alot of cities have almost no scene at all cause of all the red tape
Can you believe New York city only has as many clubs you can dance at as us, and there nightlife shuts down @ 2am......you'd think they'd be with the times However Vancouver is nowhere near the best....its tough out here....very tough.....Toronto has an awsome scene! Montreal, Florida, Houston, Seattle etc AGROout

agro, dude, you're way off-base about new york. it's home to some of the craziest clubs in the world: Exit, Centro Fly, Roxy, Arc.. all of them far bigger than any of vancity's clubs. even with Sound Factory and Twilo shutdown the scene there is still kickin. not only do many of the clubs stay open until 8AM or later (some, like Junior Vasquez's Earth night at Exit, don't open until 6 or 7, btw) but many of the ones that serve alcohol can serve LATE!  i'll bet you can count on one hand the number of people that have actually slept the night before heheh Last edited by QuanNeur; Apr 27, 03 at 12:39 AM.
