it doesn't seem like you want a job that much if you're asking other people where to find a job, instead of taking the initiative to start digging yourself... I know the feeling of wanting to shortcut and ask others of places they know are hiring, but you should keep in mind that we don't know where YOU live, where YOU'RE willing to transit to, and what KIND of job you are willing/hoping to take on... no one will do that much research for the sake of you cause most of us prob don't care all that much, so get off your bum and go LOOK
PS- If you want a retail job browse down robson. There are a TONNA places hiring down there. Introducing yourself to the MANAGER works like a charm. |

ya I been runnin around tryin to find a new job lots, nowhere seems to actually wanna hire though, they just say help wanted and then end up hiring someone else or not hiring anybody, it's annoying
if u want a job telemarketing or something lame like that, go to Dylan Ryan Teleservices on 1177 West Hastings they're ALWAYS hiring and they actually pay pretty good, u just have to be able to make sales :soak: |

Get off the computer and look.. i cant believe you could post this... Honestly go to metro. downtown.. anywhere actually. just cause a store dosent have a sign in the window it dosent mean they arent hiring.. we never put our sign up in the window but were always hiring and have hired at least one person a month.

The manager who helped me to get hired with aritzia told us that she only hires by PERSONALITY, and not RESUME. She said that she pretty much doesn't look at anyone's resume who just tosses it in her face like they don't even care about the job. I would agree with her, because my RESUME SUCKS, and having worked at IGA doesn't exactly qualify me in retail... so go take the initiative and introduce yourself to the manager.. A paper and a list of your "work experience" isn't always going to reflect your personality. Just think, they probably get a tonna other resumes from those who are much more qualified than you for the job, but bet that some of their resumes prob get tossed in the reject pile cause they didn't take the initiative either.
I saw one girl's resume @ the wig store I used to work at and she had way more job experience than me. She was a university student at sfu, but did she get hired? NOPE! Why? because she just handed it to one of the other irresponsible sales associates and the manager prefers to meet the applicant in person anyway, rather than indirectly by a resume. I find alot of people complain they don't have jobs but they apply everywhere. you have to show that you are very interseted and you really want to work there. also look presentable! i find people who say they apply everywhere and don't get hired wear like scrub clothes and don't clean themselves up while applying...you have to look presentable people! |

i need a job too. but i'm not complain since i've only looked a little :P i'm just impatient and want one now!
i think the hardest part for some people though, is being really shy. sometimes it's really hard to just talk to someone you don't know, when you know what you do/say/how you look is pretty important at that one moment. and if you're like me it ends up not working out too well. maybe it's just me and my anxiety, either way.. it's not as easy as some people always say. plus, not having a lot of experience looking for jobs makes things a little more difficult. meh, whatever. |
