5 best:
- placing in the top 5 in 3 out of 4 long distance track meets in grade 6 at the provincials (800m, 1200m, 2000m, 2500m[?]) - my entire tae kwon do career (except for not being able to afford the black belt exam). especially breaking some cocky motherfucker's nose in a tournament (even though i got docked for it). - turning down an opportunity to play on a rep. soccer team because i was just too damn hardcore for their fancy shit. - getting to go to soccer camp with bobby L and the vancouver 86'ers. - smashing a baseball bat over my baseball coach's back when i was 7. (fucking jerk) 5 worst: - taking a frozen soccerball in the stomach - threatened to be held back in grade 7 cuz i refused to join the track team. that was just gay. - not being able to join cross country team in grade 8 cuz math teacher made me stay after school everyday until 6 to learn friggin' algebra. totally steered me away from athletics. - getting caught skiing out of bounds on big white, and having my weekend pass taken away. - developing bercitis (sp?) in my knees when i was 15, couldn't play ball for a year... |

Best
1. being named captain of my grade 8 volleyball team 2. beating kitsilano during the shootouts in my senior year of soccer 3. making an awesome save during a soccer game (they mentioned my name over the P.A. the next day :)) 4. getting fouled out of a basketball game and getting the label of the most aggressive player...hahahahaha 5. in grade 7 when my volleyball team beat a good team full of grade 8's and 9's during my sunday morning leagues... lol. Worse: 1. tearing my ACL the first day of volleyball practice 2. unknowingly leaving my goalie box and "attacking" the opponent, resulting in a penalty shot and a goal for the other team :( 3. losing the junior soccer championship finals to point grey, 3-2 4. losing 42-9 in grade 8 basketball (we were a VERY bad team) 5. finally beating a senior basketball team in a tournament... then later finding out they were a junior team :P --Joanne :P Last edited by Joanne; May 16, 03 at 05:17 PM. |

all hockey
5) last year, playing on a line with my father and my brother in law, and combining for 4 goals on the night. 4) my first career hattrick. i came so close so many times. 3) one year (atom? bantam?) when i was cut to AA from AAA because of my size, we had an exhibition game halfway through the year against the AAA team. i got a penalty shot in the third period from being hauled down on a breakaway. i ended up scoring and tying the game up. we lost anyway by a fluke goal, but we totally matched a team that was supposed to be an entire flight better than us. 2) winning against the host team in a kelowna tournament in semi finals. team came back from 3-0 in the third after having to deal with homer refs, cocky opposite team, and total bullshit in the arena. they played music every time the home team scored and had a big announcer give out the assists over the loudspeaker. any time we did anything complete silence except for the few fans that could make it out. i still remember assisting on the final goal with 1:03 left. our coach stood up on the boards and said 'WHERES THE MUSIC NOW? HUH? PLAY THE FUCKING MUSIC NOW!' when we got back to the hotel rooms, the parents had anonymously left a flat of beer in our rooms to share. 1) coming back from 3-1 in the third to win leauge championships with my dad this year. i remember skating down the ice and me and my goalie tackled each other. everyone had counted us out. winning it with my girlfriend in the crowd, my dad on the ice. sweet. also coming close was winning the first fight i was in, and last year sending a 6'4, 270 pound guy over the boards into his bench. he congradulated me after (im 5'10, 148-155 pounds depending on the point in the season) |

-First steps
. Learning to ride a bike. -learning to read. -My first neck deep pow day in Ruby bowl -The first day I climbed a mtn safetly, then skiing down it. No bones under that snow.Spoiled for life. -Failing grade 8 gym. -learning to enjoy the skill of walking up mtns in order to ski down. -Fallowing a rabit trail up 5 mile basin. -Skiing backside for the first time. Air puppy after a 4 day storm cycle. these are not the best nor the worst. . quality, is what these would be. but wait....there was this one time. I had first chair. I was a lifty at a small ski hill in sick snow country. It was my first day off on a powder day. I rode the first day puffing a fatty with a new buddy. I skied the Blast. My boss could have taken first tracks but skied the trees so I could enjoy the perfect fall line. It was early season so the snarbies were poking through . I skied that line like a weak kneed coastal boy but I loved it. I scream a thousand songs of love in my head. My whole body rang with the sound effects of every turn, every crystal of kootney pow as I painted my joy on the slopes of hope. Slack jawed and panting I met my nemisis at the secon cat track. You should keep your eyes infront of you." he said, as he pushed off and railed mach 10 turns to the lift. I fallowed, barely holding my line. oh I'll never forget that. it was the whole stark rush of being a ski hero for just one run. I was a super hero that only I could adore. |

oh oh oh! another great moment was the scrap i got into this year at the game against richmond high.. even though i was bloody scarry and bruisy after the game it was great. my girls and their girls always had tension since grade 9... cuz one of their big girls tossed me off teh court in grade 9.. we had revenge written all over us. the reffs were horrible at the game too.. so we were throwing punches and shoves non stop...the great art of boxing out. my boney ass boxing out = dangerousssss. at 4th quarter me and another girl from the other team had a chat with the reffs because the fouls were 10-0 for richmond high and a few of us couldn't stop bleeding. LOL i love it when sports get rowdy. now everytime i go to the mall or something and see "their crew" we get lippy or stares..funny stuff.

hmmm...
1) Getting and holding the senior boys 100m sprint record at my highschool. 2) Getting and holding (still to my knowledge) the senior boys 200m sprint record at my old highschool. 3) Running 125km in grade 2 and getting the boys trophy for run for fun for my elementary school. *The last 2 are not record type things but they were oh so satisfying* 4) Stuffing the best (and most arrogant) b-ball player on the senior team so bad that he fell on his ass in front of everyone. AND it was ALL ball too! :) 5) At a zone meet I went to I was the shortest guy in my heat. The rest of the guys were taller and bigger than me. They were talking in a group and I saw them look over to me and overheard the following: "I wonder which one of us will win this one." one guy nodded to me and said: "Oh yea, that guy for sure." They all started laughing. Well, I won the race (a 200m sprint) and the closest guy behind me was 20m back. After the race I looked back and said. "Nice try guys, maybe a few more years of training and you'll be good enough to win." My worst moments: 1) Double spraining my ankle playing b-ball 2) Spraining my ankle playing b-ball. 3) Getting shot in an unprotected ear playing paintball. 4) Slipping on the start line to a 100m final and flubbing a race which I should of won. 5) The worst was just before zones (and I know I would of made it to provincials easily, possibly nationals, I got extremely sick and so couldn't make it) I had trained really hard all year too...grrrr... |

Best:
1. Winning the Bronze Medal at Softball Provincials in '99 2. Placing 1st in Triple Jump at my grade 6, 8 and 9 Zone meets - I was the shortest person in each of the competitions 3. Scoring 47 points in 1 minute at the Hot Shot competition at the London basketball tournament in grade 7 4. Going undefeated and only allowing ONE run during the entire tournament (we scored 72 runs total) to win the Summerland Softball Tournament 2003 (three weeks ago) 5. Placing 3rd in High Jump in the BC's in grade 8 - I was 4 inches shorter than the next tallest competitor, and 8 inches shorter than the winner 6. My personal best practice Triple Jump (11.53m) beat the BC record for my age (11.47m) set in 1986 Worst: 1. Winning the Bronze Medal at Softball Provincials in '99 (the fucking umpire didn't realize that it was a force play at home...bastard! we could have taken Gold!) 2. Tearing my hamstring at the BC's in grade 8 and not being able to compete in the Triple Jump 3. Moving up to Rep Softball and my team being too intimidated and not doing too well for two seasons (we were forced to move up from house because we placed in the top 3 in the Provincials and we were in our first year of Bantam - stupid rule) 4. Not being allowed to play any school sports for three years due to cross-boundary, and therefore forfeiting any chance at a track/volleyball/basketball scholarship (huge regret right here) 5. Spraining my ankle 5 times during grade 7 and not being able to compete in any track events except for discus and shot put wow that was hard I miss playing sports now =\ Amanda - don't worry, I used to do Equestrian too, I won't make fun of you =) Last edited by galaxie; May 18, 03 at 10:59 PM. |
