poorly executed, the shades are all off and the line definition is much straighter in the original artist's work, among other things.

Try playing with the colours, they seem off... needs to be much darker... also try having more defined lines... i think when you tried to blend it in you blended the defining lines too much.. try keeping them on a seperate layer....
my 2 cents at least.... Looks good though..!

well you could create a custom palette if you're using photoshop, and paint your face with that or force the custom palette over the whole picture (I think that's something like what Sammy does). as well there is more texture in the original, some if it looks just like compression artefacts so you could even their colours out and it will make yours look more compatable. maybe you could use a picture of yourself with more dynamic lighting as well, give yourself more to work with.

why let it be though Ash? obviously this gentleman has an understanding of how some graphics programs work and can blend and mix images, why say 'that's good enough' when it can be so much better, and you can learn something doing it? critical commentary is necessary sometimes for artists to improve, just saying 'that's dope!' teaches one nothing.

What I meant is that it's such an overdone, generic filter that a lot of people do on their drawings and photos. It's obvious and looks like ass a lot of times. It's like some cheap cop out to get a sort of vector like effect.
If you were to do this again, I would suggest you pick a different picture, work with the rest of the picture. Your expression is too similar to the guy on the right, just deminishes you from it really. You are also too blurry, it just doesn't look right. Another thing, Photoshop is known for it's wonderful layers, work with it... I suggest putting the same picture of yourself layer after layer, and mucking around with it, and then changing the type of blending you are using... is this making any sense here? Ash: You aren't giving any artistic criticism other than, "WERD" or "DOPE", so hush puppy.
