Do what U wanna do...
For my formal @ university, me and my date (one of my best friends) did dinner at McDick's (priceless photo of us sitting on the counter of McD's all dressed up)... ...then to the event... ...then to her place, where we watched one porno and one Disney animated flick (think it was The Little Mermaid)... My point? make the night what U want... |

i was one of those spoiled kids that got my parents to pay for everything...but yeah..grad still wasn't the greatest for me..my hair sucked..i wish i had left it down..i hated my dress after grad started..my heels hurt...
just have fun with it j'nette...be comfy..be yourself..do wutever u feel like doing!! |

I just watched my little sister get picked up in a Ford Windstar. No limo, which I applaud them for. I told her they could rent a limo on any other nite and get it so much cheaper. One of her friend's uncle's works at a Ford dealership and ended up driving them in a brand new van for free. they do have a dvd player in there...but it's free. and it's different. She spent next to nothing on her grad, yet still looked gorgeous because she wanted to get her nails done ($20) and her hair done (done by a friend of hers). Her and her friend's made it THEIR night and not what everyone else was doing.
I like Krista's suggestion. Go in whatever you feel most comfortable. A dickie's skirt and skateshoes would certainly be different and you wouldn't have to spend an arm and a leg on it. And if you don't know who to invite, just grab one of your friends to go with you. You might not think of it now, but you might regret not going afterwards. It's one night of your life and it just might be fun:). Good luck hun! -desiree |

grad is what you make of it, i took my best friend cause i didnt want to waste grad on a boyfriend i was not gonne be with a couple months later. i baught the expensive dress, cause thats what i wanted for my night. i did my hair how i wanted it which was kinda like baby from diry dancing, had my cousin do my make up, and i wore my adidas cause i dont do heals.... grad really is what you make of it. origionally i was gonna take the bus to grad with m date but instead we ended up in a like 1980 or somethin lebaron with an a-track player and we listened to billy idol. the music at grad did suck... but it didnt matter to me cause hell i was celebratin. if you go into anything thinkin its a waste\not gonna be fun then it isnt gonna be fun. its what you make of it.

im payin for my grad.. including the fees (i fundraised money to clear my grad debt....started in grade 8.) i bought a cheap dress, gonna rent a few things, having my parents drive me to grad (can't afford limo or rent a car), gonna have my make up done at mac because all you need is to buy 30 dollars worth of make up and they'll do make up for you, gonna get my hair braided (which will last me longer than grad)... and thats about it. i dont have a date, nor do i care. i dont know whos in my dinner and dance table, nor do i care...i get along with everyone, so whoever they put me with for a sit down dinner shouldn't be that bad. and at the dinner and dance im making a toast to the guys...which i still haven't prepared yet. then we get school bussed to our school for a dry grad til 5am. gonna be a dreadful night..but hey its "once in a life time".
grad is something i really believe that every person needs to attend, just walk across teh stage do ure thing and thats the final conclusion of highschool! at my ceremony its gonna be really nerve wreckin..we find out about all the scholarships we get..and theres one thats 10,000 that im runnin up for... not to sound greedy, but i NEED scholarships for art school next year. im kinda excited, im gonna look hawt that night. ;) Last edited by bebu*funfun; May 30, 03 at 10:47 PM. |

hehe grad was probably one the most fun night of high school!
we had wet grad, drank wine at the dinner and when we hit the afterparty, the police took all the liquor we bought with our grad fund that took us all year to raise... 3 kegs, buncha flats of coolers.... a night that almost ended really fuckin badly was saved when the parents brought all the liquor they could find in their fridges and wine cabinets and got all of us hosed... the chance to get fucked up with everyone in yur grade doesnt come all too often but i gotta say its wet grad or nothing.... fuck dry grad! hehe that was a great night |

grads different for everyone, for me it meant nothing but that's just me and i offended a lot of people at school or something by not going
i didn't go cause i didn't like too many people at school, and i didn't want to spend my money on all the stuff to spend time with people i don't like ...but i did go to one of the afterparties which i had a lot of fun at i don't regret not going...if you have doubts already then you probably won't miss much |

I cryed on grad! Because grad jsut turned out ot be nothing like i hoped, and was so bloody fake.
We had one more person to fit our table... they aked if id be the one to find another group, sence im more friends with everone and not jsut them The limo... yeah why not, never been in one b4. But it sucked because we had someone telling who goes in witch limo EHHH And who wants to argue on grad night? Anyways like meny of you I started to rebel, and dont think i spent anything!?! Except on booz. Looking back, I kinda regreted it. I never took meny picks that night, or they turned out bad. Mom says will have to ree do them some other time... however 2 years have past. I love the way Krista puts it. And I lik the idea of you getting to gether with your firends/familey and suporting and helping making it a great grad night. No need for a $400 custom made dress that makes you look like big bird. When I look back it may have been one of those one time chances to go full out. Oh well, im realy more proud of traveling to australia then the past 12 corney years of school. Kindergarden was the only good one ;) |

i'm not spending too much on my grad at all..
i was thinking of not even going, but i figured i might as well because if i don't i'll probably regret it. it's going to be one of the last times i see almost anyone at my school so it is kinda weird.. i was closer with people but i've just sorta drifted from everyone this year, and i know we'll all loose touch after we've gradded. i haven't actually spent alot of money.. my dress is nice, it was only $130. i bought a pair of red and white pumas, which i will wear more after the grad.. i got the matching puma purse. i might be getting my hair braided for commencements and grad night (not sure about that, but it lasts longer than one night :P) and i'm most likely getting my sis to do my makeup. so that's about my night.. no limo, john's driving =) i didn't get a custom dress, i'm not getting my makeup/nails/hair all professionally done and crazy, i'm not wearing heels.. i'm doing what i want! i like my pumas.. it's more me, than some crazy heels i wont' ever wear again (and probably will take off halfway through the dinner/dance!) it's in two weeks.. :P |

I went. No date, but I went in a Limo w/ my friends...
I regret not going with a date. That's the one thing I would have changed...I could have as well... I guess it's different wit everyone. My friend was having a brutal time because his date spent more time with her cellphone than him :p We had dry grad, but it was all good. Prizes (I won $100) and we rented a bowling alley for the whole night/morning, so it was all good. I'll be honest, if you THINK that you'll have a brutal time, you probably will. As long as you have people you get along with there...and as long as you aren't a dipshit and exude this aura of "I fucking hate this place" everything should be cool. enjoy your grads ppl!!! |

but i think grad is kinda special cuz it's the last time you'll be with everyone you've gone to school with for like 5 years!! and even though you might not think it's that important now I bet if you look back on it you'll be glad you went just cuz otherwise you might regret not going...and the money thing, if you haave to pay for everything yourself then just look for something ncie and cheap..there's lotsa nice dresses out there for a decent price!
i'm lucky my mom's paying for eveyrthing but i feel bad about it so i'm gonna pay her back later! |
