~*~Finding a job w/ facial piercings?~*~
Is it really that HARD to find a job if you have piercings? Do you think a lot of places will make a quick judgment just based on that if you have a labret or what not?
What do you guys think and for those who have piercings is your job okiez with it? |

there are places that wont hire you with any facial piercings...take for example every place i've ever worked at...staples, safeway, white spot, the bay etc
then again it depends on what kinda job you're going for, and what places you're applying at. |

It all depends on how you carry yourself but don't ever believe that the first impression doesn't count.
I don't have any metal piercings but I do walk around with my bright coloured shirts and coloured hair all the time but my workplace and CEO knew I was that way before they hired me. I am amazed with the flexibility I am granted with my clothing, but in the end it does still look very professional. Some places are still very old school and if you do not look the 'norm' you don't have a hope in hell of getting into that company. |

When I used to go for job interviews I always removed my earring. I don't know if it made a difference or not but they certainly never glanced at my bare ears. If you choose to wear them you run the risk of letting their imaginations run wild. Stick to the basics and you'll be fine.

Ya, dispite not having any issues with any of my 3 current jobs (constrution worker, Comic Store, and Anti-Discrimination Newsletter Editor), i know i have been turned down right away due to my facial metal. I have both eyebrows and my labriet, and with the looks i get, I know when my aplication or resume wont get a second look. You just have to find places you see people with piercings. It can get frustrating though.

when i go into an interview i remove all visible peircings. no one wants to hire some punk with 20 million holes in his face. it's all about the customer service. depends totally on the job and environment of course, but you always gotta keep in mind that the company you're applying at, is trying to sell an image, to increase your odds of getting that job, you have to try to talk, look, and behave like that image. whether that means peircings, it depends on the situation. but eh, best of luck |
