i saw a show on how they make those. some guys just go out there with a drawing that they made sure was symetrical and then they just measure the area and stopm around on boards with a rope attached to them. its crazy how simple it is.

I liked this bit in particular,

If you happen to buy the story that all crop circles were originated by two sexagenarians armed with planks of wood, garden rollers and string, you are not in the minority. Once in a while, governments like to control public interest in unexplained phenomena by generating a disinformation method called 'debunking', a technique invented during the Cold War for the sad purpose of controlling mass opinion (this was the prime motive of the 1953 Robertson Panel, details of which are obtained under the US Freedom of Information Act). The method is very effective, particularly when the media provides little or no scientific or factual data with which the public can form an educated opinion on the subject. This absence of evidence is then replaced by ridiculing the subject through association with other 'fringe' topics; so-called experts are brought-in to explain away all the events as freak weather conditions or as the work of general pranksters, even sexually excited animals!

"No hoaxed crop circle has ever produced the singlemost characteristic associated with the genuine phenomenon: plants whose stems are bent, not broken."

cool.... i love unexplained phenomena like this, because it proves how little we really klnow about the universe. I know too many people who believe that modern science holds all the answers to life's mysteries, but i don't buy it. hell, just a few hundred years ago we thought the earth was flat.

I believe that there's a scientific explanation for any unexplained or 'supernatural' phenomena, ie telepathy, or afterlife...... I just don't think modern science is even close to understanding these things. If you're inclined to disbelieve any phenomena that can't currently be explained by science, then you need to broaden your horizons a bit imo..... :smoke1:

There are people out there called light workers who are a few of many who seem to have their own explanation to this kind of phenomena. According to the light workers, these crop circles are indeed work of extraterrestrial "light children" who are supposedly like angels... the purpose for this insane art work, i'm sure if you met a light worker they can explain what theyve studied for decades happily. I'm not gonna go further into the subjust of light workers and opening the third eye but its a pretty crazy thing.... somewhat convincing yet wayyy too crazy to be totally convinced

http://www.cropcircleresearch.com/articles/arecibo.html

this is probably one of the more interesting crop "circles" that i've come across, mainly for its gee-wiz factor. it's an alien-fied version of a message that was sent off into space by the Arecibo radio observatory in 1974, telling any possibly aliens a bit about us. now, this particular crop circle was found next to a radio observatory in england. this leads me to think that it was bored radio astronomers looking to have some fun. pretty neat, regardless.

as for the rest of the phenomenon, i'd say that most of them are faked. there remains the elusive few that display the unbroken stalk which are puzzling.

what do i think is causing them? right now my favourite theory is that of resonating energies emanating from the earth. something akin to ball lightning or "earth lights" as they've become known. i find this theory to be the strongest since the geometrical relationships in the formations tend to relate to musical tones.

or maybe it's all done by aliens. who knows.
