Does Big Brother Make Us Safer?

"No credible evidence has been presented that legalizing more invasive technology and granting law enforcement agencies the sweeping power to arrest, detain and spy on citizens enhances the safety of Americans."

So what a LOT of people want to know is how will taking away our freedoms make us any safer?

down with Big Brother
1982 should not come to pass, in my opinion
what gives people the right to control other people? how is it good in any way to suppress human nature?
the only reason people say that anarchy is a bad thing is because they were conditioned by the media sending images of anarchy being destruction and death and flames
but in reality anarchy is the simple lack of government rule
would that be so bad?
I think not

I'm not saying I want anarchy (I don't), I just question the assertation that all these changes to our national security make us any safer.

What will make people safer? It is easy to criticize measures, but what about a reasonable alternative?

We're living in very strange times and I think the overall capability for extremely catastrophic events to happen is higher than it's ever been. Also, nations like the United States have had new vulnerabilities exposed- Americans are scared. A lot of Americans are willing to sacrifice some of their personal liberties in order to feel 'safer'. Is big brother the answer? Who knows. To reiterate- if this isn't the answer, then what is?
