And if you didn't read the report they made about ticket allocation... good luck snagging any when they are released. A great majority of them are pre-allocated to VIP, gov't and media, then to selected countries and then after all that they go on sale to the general public.

In my opinion your right as far as going to the interior. I have a free pass to Whistler every year so that's where I go but straight up the interior mountains are way less expensive. A side effect of having more tourists come to Whistler will be an increase in rates (which = more money and jobs coming to our province) which will drive a lot more locals to other ski areas.
As far as going to the actual events what do you expect? Are we to expect that every person in town can go? Of course they are going to be hard to get into! The Olympics are a
GLOBAL event and when they're held other places we get a certain amount of tickets like other countries will for our games.
