clothing sizes?

this thread is prob targeted to girls more cause I don't know what's going on in the men's depatment,

but have any of you other girls noticed that sizes lately have gotten bigger? Are retailers just becoming more realistic about their sizes? At first I figured that they might be making their sizes bigger because they want their pants/skirts to ride LOWER and sit lower on the waist, but iono..

ps-doesn't BEING STUCK IN BETWEEN SIZES SUCK?

yeah i've noticed that too. and it really bugs me that now all the pants/skirts are lowrise and whatnot. like yeah they look nice (on SOME people) but i would really like to buy a pair of normal pants. and im not jokin but i cannot find one. but oh well. bleah bleah

and yes it does suck bein stuck between sizes. why do all the sizes have to be odd #?. a size 3 is too small and a size 5 is too big. therefore a size 4 would be perfect but that doesnt exist.

and i also hate how not all sizes are the same. for example a size 3 at one store would fit perfect, and a size 3 at another store would be tiny as hell. MAKE THEM ALL THE SAME.

yeah I'm so confused about what size I am now. I am a different size at diferent stores...

WHOA!? SIZE THREE SIZE 5!? WHAT STORES DO YOU GO TO!?
I actually NEED the odd numbers and even numbers are all I ever find. How do you NOT find a size 4? I see it everywhere..

I agree, THEY SHOULD MAKE THEM ALL THE SAME

I also hate having to think about size conversion. ie pants often come in sizes 0-2-4-6..etc but then when it comes to jeans you have to switch to 25/26/27/28 etc... it's a pain in the bum.

the problem with low jeans for me is my butt. i can't find jeans made for girls with asses. at least, nice jeans anyways.

shopping.. is a love-hate relationship :P

girls got it rough....its Large or X-large baby! the only thing i find is that when i go shopping in the states their XL is like massive, so i end up with getting M.

The only thing more complicated I ever need to worry about is neck size.

Whats up with size 0? everytime i see that i think..is the girl so skinny she's not really even there..so she's like invisible......or maybe i should go to bed....

it must suck to have a disproportionate body...

if you can't find something that fits you perfectly off the rack, you're either imbred or a mutant.

^^ That's crazy.

It too find that different stores have different sizes. For example, Gap and Old Navy (old navy's a lot worse, i find) have HUGE sizes. I bough small wife beaters from Old Navy that ended up stretching to the point that I can only really wear them to the gym. Although, maybe it's not the sizes but the quality of the material...So i've started going with extra smalls there.

At other stores, I can't even fit into a small and their mediums are sometimes even too small.
There should be universal clothing sizes.

On the issue jeans: Wtf is up with all of these stretch jeans? Baby's got legs and back, OK. Those jeans only look good on girls with skinny thighs. And can I PLEASE get a 30 inch inseam? I've started buying my jeans from American Eagle because they come in a petite size that I don't have to end up hemming. Don't even get me started on those cat whiskers they've got on jeans these days...UGLY.

Good call.
I like shopping....but when my girl says lets go shopping for pants. I know Ima but up in there all day long...
That and I remember a few months back not a single pair of pants had back pockets. I hate no pokets....Where the hellIma put my hands when we walk?
Pft.

also...on the guy note. I know what its like to not find pants the right size. I 'm 6'4" and all leg and if I could get a 36 inch leg in my pants I would be really happy cause I get 34 for taht looks not half bad and then they shrink and I look like a dork.

its impossible for me to find a pair of pants that actually fit me. Not that i wear pants that fit me anyways...but if i were to buy a nice pair of pants from abercrombie and fitch for example, i wouldn't be able to find a pair that would fit properly. i'm really skinny and have a pretty small waist BUT...i have long giant freak legs, so pants are always too short...so i end up wearing them reaaaaaallly fucking low.

but i dont mind too much cuz i hardly ever wear nice fitted pants anyways.

Pants NEVER fit me. It's the curse of having a tiny waist and ghetto booty.

The only company that consistantly fits me is Silver, and it's great because alot of times I can find them at Winners dirt cheap. The other company that seems to fit rather well (even if I have to go up a size to fit them) is Dorinha (the 1" zipper pants). I have a pair of black ones I bought 2 years ago, and I've worn them so much I think Ima have to dye them black again.

All I can say about pants is that if you find a pair you like, buy 6 pairs and hide them in your closet. I hate it when companies discontinue styles that fit great.

shuttup mutant label-slave! Not every one has a perfect body for every store, every company/brand uses a different fit model, different brands use different sizing systems ie. 2-4-6-8 etc 1-3-5-7, so regardless of how "perfect" you might think your body is is, you're going to be "disproportionate" at one company or another. <<REGARDLESS WHAT THE COMMISSION HUNGRY SALESPERSON TELLS YA>>
yes, you too, are a mutant! *gasp*

Also, certain clothing are targeted to "look" or "fit" a certain way, and some are targeted for certain body types. Some jeans, like cheryl said are targeted for girls with smaller bums, and some others are targeted for girls WITH butts. I often see a nicely proportioned girl with no ass have major gapping going on in the ass region, even if the jean looks good in every other section of her body.

ie.. i've noticed that t5soul and I've also heard that von dutch is targeted for the slimmer population.

Yeah, but the problem with that is, you spend, say $80 on a pair of jeans. You go and get them taken-in, hemmed, whatever. Major work is going to cost you $30-40. And $120 for a pair of pants is too much to pay imo.

I meant go see a tailor and have the clothes made... not altered.

All my pants, suits and shirts are custom made to my measurements and I get to pick the cloth and colour.

With a master tailor the quality is as good if not better than stuff you can get off the rack and usually a lot cheaper too.

even the m's are huge... for alotta hip hop lines thats the case... prolly cuz theyre designed for huge black thugs who like their tops baggy... then theres also the obese americans who are sueing fast food companies :hehe:

but i never understood girl sizes.. theres waist chest boobs, size 0-24 (i hear 24 is the average size for a woman?) but anyways its all about getting a suit custom cut for you by a tailor. or a dress custom made for you.

but anyways if you're gonna be walking into different stores where alot of the clothes are made in 3rd world countries then you really cant expect serious consistancy. not that theyre all made there but hell consistancy is something we all gotta learn not to expect in the retail industry

i got a really cheap pair on boxing day and it made me look like i had a booty which was awesome, however apparently the little children in j-lo's sweat shop are not on their a-game when it comes to sewing.. the night that i got them the front snaps came off when i undid my pants. oh well.

i dont think its the sizes that change in the stores, i think its our bodies. the female body is constantly changing, so we tend to fit into different sizes and shit. but i agree with the different stores and such... i have trouble findin pants cause i have a small butt. i find that american made jeans fit me the best. its all about finding your brand.

^^errr....24 might be the average size for asian women, lol
[edit: meant for k-pryde, didn't notice that this thread was two pages]

but i have problems finding pants too!
i can't find any that really fit properly and are decently priced (i'm sorry, but $200 on jeans is just too much)
i'm a 28, and a lot of the times, jeans are only start at size 30
and it's really hard to gain weight in my waist, so i'm stuck with ill fitting pantalons

I surprisingly have no problems shopping for clothes my size. heh, I guess my body is just very average?

the biggest problem I have is finding my size on the sales rack because all the popular sizes are gone!!!
