Capoetta (sp?)

I was just watching MTV and the had these Brazilian Capoetta dancers on.... holy shit!!! This art form is over 400 yrs old and is a huge basis for breakdancing.

It was like a choreographed fight/dance routine and some of the stalls they dropped were off the chains. Anybody on this board know how to rock any of that stuff??

i don't but a lot of my friends are in the dance programme at ryerson and a few of them are capuera dancers. they're so fly. they look like little girls but then they do crazy capuera/breaks battles with each other in the courtyard outside our apartments. it's pretty fucking hype.

capoiera has a dope history...mainly about how it was created by slaves on slave ships who used it as a way to work out on board the confines of the ship as well as learn a martial art without the slave traders on the ship suspecting anything.

its like dance fighting, quit literally people would have dance battles..haha

I have a few friends who are really into capoiera it's a beautiful form of dance/martial arts.

i'm actually thinking about joining some kind of capoeira dojo (if they exist). anyone know where i can go?

^^, I think theres one down on granville street some where, they used to do demonstrations in front of art gallery steps
