BIG ICBC Change
Hopefully none of you have processed three plus comprehensive claims on your insurance!
VANCOUVER (CBC) - ICBC is cutting off 100 of its worst customers off from buying comprehensive coverage, and radically increasing the comprehensive deductible for thousands of others. The optional comprehensive coverage includes theft, break-ins, fire or vandalism. Link: http://www.icbc.com/Insurance/insura...cl_compre.html ICBC's Doug McClelland says there are a small number of people in B.C. with abnormally high claims for theft and damage – and 100 of them will be told they can no longer get coverage. He says another 5,000 will have their deductible increased by up to 800 per cent. "Their car's been broken into once a year, their car's being stolen once a year…more than once a year, their windshield's being broken more than once a year. "So, in other words, what they have is not really an insurance policy, but a replacement policy." McClelland says says the changes are based on sound underwriting principals, and the risk that customers present. He says it's part of ICBC's move towards market-based insurance coverage for B.C. drivers. But there's no word on how much this will save the Crown corporation. Under provincial law, ICBC must still offer basic coverage, collision and third-party liability to all B.C. drivers. |

i can see why they woudl do this. BUT what about ppl that simpl live in a bad part of town. I understand fradu is a major problem, but ICBC seriously has to get their heads out of their asses. THis is just another example of how ignorant and scandelous they really are.

if people don't like the premiums, then they'll be forced to take measures to mitigate the risks. removal of stereo and high priced items (which are expensive to replace) would be the first of quite a few things that could be done. this is reflective of what they should have done in the first place. |

I had a really nice 84 Golf GTI and I got hit and they gave nearly nothing for it so I had to buy a rat bag of a car.
a beat 77 vw Rabbit. I went to the autohouse and stole my rims and my stereo out of the 84 becuase they were worth more than what ICBC gave me for the whole car. So I get some rat bag cacr for 1500 dollars. Fine. I go to ICBC and they charge me 143 dollars for the insurance a month. Thats 1760 a year...more then I payed for for the car. So I bought brand new 2003 Golf two months ago and got my wife to do the insurance and used her discount and she doesn't have an N and ICBC charges us 215 dollars a month to insure the Mofo.....the problem I have is. EVERYONE can relate. I'm not the only one that has a half shitty story about ICBC on file. But Hey the man has got a good hold on you if you want to Have nice things.....Damn the man. |

im thinkin of getting a 2003 GTi, i priced a jetta and they said it would cost 2750 a year to insure it..which dosen't make sense becuase my friend has a golf gti with a vr6 and when he had 15% discount he only paid 2200 a year. right now i drive a 1987 740 volvo and insurence is about 1900 a year with a 15% discount. ive made it back tho..last year my car got broke into and there was 2700 in damage/theft |
