Interpretation of “strike” through a teenager
These words are coming from a teenager that is about to step into the world.
It is difficult comprehend as my sight and faith have all been spoiled. I come from a generation that have been breed the same before, To strive and reach our dreams up high as we have that want for something more. That foundation of dreams was pure and when in childhood made more sense. Every Vision had a purpose now it crumbles due to cents. I ask myself the question, and deeply wonder why? To educate the younger children to spread their wings to fly Embedding morals into them, of selfness and greed Never let it over come them, but it is all I see and read I reminisce about the past when I was a child full of joy I dreamt of what I’d one day be, we all had this dream, girl or boy Many more will one day come to dream this very dream The truth is that this single dream, is not held by only me. There exist billions of children with futures to fulfill And there are parents that watch these dreamers and their endless will Listening to their child’s words that emerges from their hearts Words we must not forget that we once might have took part “ I want to be a dancer, to show my elegance and style” “ I want to be a comedian, to make others laugh and smile” “ I want to be a musician, to make music with great beats” “ I want to be a police officer, to bring safety to the streets” “ I want to be a fireman, to save those from burning flames” “ I want to be a athlete, for the love of the game” “ I want to be a doctor or a nurse, to help the injured or the sick” “ I want to be a lawyer, to protect the innocent” “ I want to be a singer, so I let my voice be heard” “ I want to be a teacher, to insure the future is preserved” It seems as though our morals that stood so long ago Shattered with our dependence on the world, as it turns and grows It covers all the newspapers, and may makes the nightly news All about the lack of “Government funding” and how the workers are abused “Younger Generations” are not stupid, we just don’t understand How you (older generations) fill us with knowledge, as you spill the full-cupped hand. Yes! I’m talking about all the strikes that are appearing here and there It seems like a striking Era, as they are everywhere You the older generations are thinking that it’s for the best But same as YOU, and the government, it is us that you invest It is you we call our roll models, our real hero’s and our stars We have followed your guidance endlessly, but it is now unsure how far In school we are taught co-operation, in order for success It seems as though it is what our society lacks, due to all the mess I bet I don’t know what’s going on, but it’s not the bus for sure And those who own the corporation may want me to be mature The bus strike have cost many to loose their jobs or more And those who come and visit may leave and rate the city poor Citizens that have devoted themselves to public transportation May have fallen and given into a different organization It places more danger on the streets for those who visit bars They come out thinking a taxi’s too much, and climb into their cars I flicked through channels and turned to news, and I produced these lines of thought I heard the “health sciences” may go on strike, and thought to myself “oh, god” They go on strike and in my mind it goes off on red alert They put things down, but don’t they know, it’s the patients they desert They take time off, when time is clearly an essence that’s a fact Months, days and hours go by when there is no turning back They could have been discovering a miraculous cure for cancer Preventing some outrageous epidemic, that is flooded with questions and no answers The nurses and doctors go on strike, they turn their back on those Sick and dying, an operation must, and they keep their doors all closed It seems to me in the back of my mind, it’s like a hostage situation There is a wait until someone dies, so the government will pay attention Don’t they all realize of understand what is going on? They believe it’s for the good, but you’re raising us all wrong We are societies children, a society filled with parents, Roll models to simple teachers and yes we are the students We learn from your knowledge, and there is so much that we take We learn more than just your wisdom, we learn from your mistakes You say that you invest in us, but you push majority away But the present is a deadly game we don’t have time to play We will one day be the teachers, nurses, etc. and eventually take your place And there are so many problems we have to grow up just to face Let me run this through my mind, and hopefully we’ll all see So I get all points across and show you what this poem means They are striking in the present so the future will receive Better rights and the funding, so the better the future will be They entered a profession, some that were their dreams And exchanged in their morals, which we all learned for protesting screams They strike, and turn their backs on those who depend on them the most There are lives on the line, and they want more money, to me that is gross If I never shared these thoughts, would they have crossed your mind? Are some of the points that I have showed you difficult to find? It’s the present they’re destroying, as I said they’re playing a deadly game Because when we become the leaders, who do they point and blame? It is us -Yung |
