Shutting Up The Right Wing!
Cheap labor is what it comes down it would seem, I particularly liked this bit;
Cheap-labor conservatives don't like social spending or our "safety net." Why. Because when you're unemployed and desperate, corporations can pay you whatever they feel like – which is inevitably next to nothing. You see, they want you "over a barrel" and in a position to "work cheap or starve." Cheap-labor conservatives don't like the minimum wage, or other improvements in wages and working conditions. Why? These reforms undo all of their efforts to keep you "over a barrel." Cheap-labor conservatives like "free trade," NAFTA, GATT, etc. Why? Because there is a huge supply of desperately poor people in the third world, who are "over a barrel," and will work cheap. Cheap-labor conservatives oppose a woman's right to choose. Why? Unwanted children are an economic burden that put poor women "over a barrel," forcing them to work cheap. Cheap-labor conservatives don't like unions. Why? Because when labor "sticks together," wages go up. That's why workers unionize. Seems workers don't like being "over a barrel." Cheap-labor conservatives constantly bray about "morality," "virtue," "respect for authority," "hard work" and other "values." Why? So they can blame your being "over a barrel" on your own "immorality," lack of "values" and "poor choices." Cheap-labor conservatives encourage racism, misogyny, homophobia and other forms of bigotry. Why? Bigotry among wage earners distracts them, and keeps them from recognizing their common interests as wage earners. This is just one group of people that go towards the right wing and support a special interest.
I have a hard time trying to put down the right wing, or the left wing as a whole as it seems it doesn't completely exist in Canada. Parties themselves are just more concerned with attaching themselves to one side of popular issues with the public and trying to run with it to get a vote or gain the public's interest. Look at the Campbell Liberals, apparently a 'left wing' party (even their name would indicate such) but most of their legislation is really weighing towards the right side of the spectrum. |

If you look at what I was posting (other people's ideas that struck a cord with me) it wasn't actually trying to stifle debate but more specifically win debate. This can be very difficult when arguing any of this with your typical cheap labor conservative. Their perspective which I disagree with is the one that is held by the rich and elite of the world who control many aspects of society such as the media. It's beyond argument that the media has an effect on the opinions of people and it has been used to forward their agenda for quite some time. In some instances media even forms people's opinions for them who have no capability or desire to independently research things for themselves and come to their own conclusions. I believe that debate and conversation are both good things but the cheap labor conservatives definitely do not. You'll see a blatant example of this as more and more media outlets are consolidated, eliminating many voices. Just out of curiosity did you read the article? If so what do you think? It's interesting when viewed through that filter that things make a lot more sense than they do otherwise in regards to the cheap labor conservative’s agenda (cheap labor conservatives = neo liberals, fascism, right wing, conservatives...).
