It was bound to happen... There is deffinately more to it than what you read in that article.. It's the record industries getting behind them too, getting jealous of the scalpers making cash crops off of Ebay and such...
Do you actually know the percentage Ticketmaster makes off of the tickets? I wonder how that will change with the auction... will they get a percentage of the top value, or just a flate fee.. We cannnnn only wait and see. That'll determine whether they are trying to be competitive and "Stay in the market" while getting pressure from the record industries.. or are they actually making more money off of it. |

I heard about this yesterday and there is a lot more to it than the article states. The biggest factor, which will most likely end up protecting the consumer, is the fact that bands have the option of whether or not to use this method. Most bands will realize that they will lose a large fanbase and will opt out of it I think.
Either way it's still a bullshit call on the part of ticketmaster. They figure it'll help reduce scalping but in the end it'll just end up costing more to go to a show. Only the rich will be able to get good seats. |

I'm wondering if this means anything to Canadians, because ticketmaster.ca is different from ticketmaster.com. In the article, they're talking about "states" being hit hard with this, but I didn't see any indication that it was going to affect us Canadians. Anybody have any info on this?
