We Want The Stanley Cup!!!
It's the first time in a while that I've heard a Canuck player say anything like this,
"Yeah, I think it's possible to get better," Jovanovski said. "It is a tough task because it was a great year for us. I don't think there is any more time for learning. We've got to start thinking what our goal is off the hop, and that's to have a great regular season and carry it through to win the Stanley Cup." http://canada.com/vancouver/story.as...411CFE&rnd=415 |

Just because they were good last year doesn't mean the team just doesn't choke and fold under the pressure this year. Yes... I am in a pessimistic mood today. |

First of all senior your callin me a geek because i've been a loyal canuck fan for about 10 of the 16 years of my life?
Gimme a break! Here are the things that I feel that the Canucks need: 1. A goalie that can stand on his head in the playoffs! (Cloutier proved that he is a #1 goalie in the regular season. It doesn't count till the Playoffs though. Is it me or has he choked twice? Not to be a basher or anything but IF he chokes again...then you can kiss his ass goodbye. Mind you it's not ALL his fault the D played a shitty 3 games againstest the Wild..but he did let a couple of soft goals.) 2.A prospect that will step up!!! (Look for brandon reid to crack the line up this year. That kid has amazing talent and speed. However, his size still remains an issue, but while we had him here he showed where he belongs. He deserves a shot. He doesn't address all the needs. I'm thinkin more a long of Fedor Fedorov. That kid needs a wake up call. Somebody should smack him across the face and tell him that he needs to stop walking with that cocky attitude. That kid still hasn't been on a team for more 60 games! Unless he wants to be another prospect down the drain for the Canucks then he better wake the fuck up!) 3.A proven second line goal scoring winger (Sure with the addition of magnus arvedson it'll help. However, it doesn't help enough. I still feel as though they need to aquire more help to take the load off of the big three. Also with the possible departure of #44 (let's hope this doesn't happen) they definitly need the situation.) I'm worried for the Canucks because of Bertuzzi is gone...then the they'll won't have as much success as they did on the powerplay as they did last year. Another thing is that this guy has FINALLY shown us the way he used to play in juniors. That's dominating guys with his SIZE. If we let him loose, he'll definitly come back to haunt the Canucks. |

I think that this year may be one of our better chances, if only because I think that we've proven we can make it into the playoffs, so (fingers crossed) that shouldn't be our biggest hurdle.
Once playoff time hits (or before, to be accurate) we may be better positioned than in past years since teams may be less inclined to take rental players that will cost them large amounts of money in the following season (assuming said players are on contracts that extend beyond this season). That all said, I don't think that anyone would have predicted either Minnesota or Anaheim's success at the start of last season - so obviously anything could happen once the season is over and done. |
