I am a huge Johnny Cash fan and have been for years.
I think what has amazed me is that Mr. Cash has really withstood the test of time. Not only have generations of fans listened to his music. Johnny Cash himself has also withstood so many things in his life, growing up poor on a farm commune in Alabama in the depression, his brother (and best friend) dying tragically at a young age, divorce, several really bad runs with addiciton to prescription drugs, speed, whatever he could get his hands on..and lived to tell the story (over and over again) His is the only biography I have ever read, he's lead such a fascinating life. I had a good cry about it this morning. |

Did anyone catch his version of Soundgarden's "Rusty Cage"?
THE best cover of any song I've ever heard in my life. Yeah I was raised listening to Johnny Cash. He epitomized everything good country is and should be. A true artist to the end. He will be sorely missed. |

Hurt is a Fucken Nine Inch Nails song... Trent Reznor wrote hurt in 1993 in response to one of his best friends dying of a heroin overdoes.
If your gonna remember Johnny Cash use one of his own fucken songs to do it... I recomend 'The Lonely Stranger' later Peter |

my personal fave: a boy named sue. 1 quick johnny fact: the man was definetely a leader in bringing the rape of native americans to the mainstream when that shit wasn't something you talked about. R.I.P. you will be missed johnny. |

There are only a few individuals/bands out there that really reach across all music boundaries/genres and this guy was the originator of that group. It doesn't matter what kind of music you listen to, chances are you like his. He started his career with ELVIS of all people (a long time ago), played more shows than almost anybody else (the speed kinda helped that for a bit I guess) and was just one of the coolest mofos ever. It's sad that he's gone but what a life he had. |
