Msn Fees???!!!

So my dad told me today that soon there will be a fee for using msn messenger?! (he heard it on the news) I hope not! I can't live without my msn! Maybe it's just for like additional things that go along with it or add ons or somthing...???

I read an article in the paper the other day.. Basicaly, they are making some of the free MSN web based chatrooms fee based to deter boneheads and pedophiles from using their services. The fees are only for certain countries though, Canada and other "modern" countries have moderated chatrooms that will remain free.

so basikly the web based chat is guna cost you, but the messenger is free

i dont know about actually using messenger, but 3rd party programs such as trillian which are using the new msn6 protocal will have to pay a fee

its basically impossible for microsoft to start charging a fee to use msn messenger, cause too many people are already using it, there are too many free alternatives, so their user base will go down the shitter. and what are the odds that if you pay for such a service that any of your friends will also be paying for it? so there you go it will always be free.

They say they are charging people for their safety. If they have credit card info for memberships they can track pedofiles. But if it's not a money issue, why is it $24 a month ($100+ a year)? Why not $1.99? No matter the price, they still get the same info.

they're still trying to sell people on MSN 8 so i doubt they will charge for any lesser version anytime soon.
