club nights better than raves
I feel that when big headlining dj's come to town, its way more fun to see them at the bar rather than seeing them at a rave. Dont get me wrong raves are dope, but when your at the bar the vibe is way better and the whole crowd is partying so much harder and the dance floor is rocking the whole night. Does anyone agree with me ?????

CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!
clubnites are more fun just cuz everyone's there to see the headliner, and usually ready to have a good time. not like a party when all i hear is 'fuckin main room, i hate trance, i'm a whiny bitch, why am i here? i should just fuckin kill myself.' but they never do. |

There are a lot of club nights dedicated to specific genres. Unfortunetly the crowd is quite minimal compared to a rave. I just wish Vancouver could get a club that has multiple stages that aren't shitty. Sky Bar seems to be stepping in the right direction. :c-tard:

I can really say its better and everything because im not of legal age to attend club nights. Although, in my opinion , if you want a more quiet night with older people and alcohol then clubs are the way to go. As to where Raves are open to mainly every age and your able to meet the dj's a bit better. Plus I thnk its a better vibe. Not everyone who goes to raves are high on E and shit, so people do go just for the music. yea.

I think that an ultimate club would be a little less stringent on their entrance rules to allow a more diverse and fun crowd. I mean could you imagine going to a show at Sonar and being turned around from a show like POTD because you don't fit in right? Oh and there is no way I'd pay 15 bux just to go to a club where they are going to ass rape me for my drinks. If I'm going to a show, fine, but just to go... NO WAY. I'd rather stick with the Bourbon where I can go how I like, not pay cover charge, and get blazing drunk for under 30 bux! |

Yeah the two are very different that's for sure... It's to bad that the city doesn't have more support for music like Breaks/Drum n'Bass in a club because if that were the case, we would be bringing larger names of those genres in. The reality is they are not as widely supported as Trance/House and stuff. IE: even if we booked Stanton or someone, we could not guarantee that 800 people would show up... same with the likes of Andy C in a club... Gotta pay for these dudes somehow!

I would have to agree as well, I love club nights. I personally find the vibe better at them, because everyone is there to see who they paid for and are fans of the performer and the atmosphere is better (venue). Also, the performer usually plays a 2-3 hour set which is awesome, I get to see exactly what they can do, it's not a rushed set, and I can really get a feel for them.
I nice combination between club night / rave is the rowing club. I've always had a great time there, the only problem is they usually don't bring world known DJ's, unfortunately. |

^That's a shame too.... seeing Stanton Warriors is a club would be insane for sure! I wonder how many people attended event like POTD or Virus though? I mean when I go to a breaks or DnB show I usually see a pretty large crowd out.
Although I have noticed the attendance at some of the breaks shows to be dwindling a bit. I guess almost all genres other than trance/house go through shifts in popularity. I mean try and throw a DnB club night 4 or 5 yrs ago and hardly anyone would have come right? |

Dammit, why can't we have a club like G-Spot. This T.O. club is 3 levels and each level is always packed. Bottom is trance, 2nd level is hip-hop and the top level is latin &/or misc genre. This would be great for Vancouver. Cuz vancouver is still mainly hip-hop & trance. The top floor could be the house, breaks or dnb room. And I have to say, this club was posh and the drinks were priced fairly considering if was in downtown TO in the entertainment district. you could sit out the window and watch all the ppl walking outside. Very cool club. `t1m |

regarding skybar: it goes with the territory, it's not a pimp club if every joe schmo can get in with all his raver/barstar/gangsta/ghetto buddys.
POTD: was packed, and awesome, but if that's what it takes for a non-trance event to succeed that's pretty hard. i mean ak1200, dara, dieselboy? holy crap. imo that's not that easy to pull down. |

I'll explain Trancer. Club nights with huge head liners means serveral things to me. No Dance space, wet floor, drunk idiots, bad attitudes, lack of respect for others and the list of things reasons why i enjoy a rave over a club night goes on. Everytime i've seen a DJ at a club i've been bitchy about something and it usually has something to do with dancing. I dont like having people crowded around me when im dancing and i dont like to feel like im invading someones space. Seeing a DJ at a club almost guarentees that both of those things will happen. Dont get me wrong, it was great seeing DJs like Dieselboy and Aphrodite at Sonar, and DJ SS at lotus but it would have been much more enjoyable at a venue like the plaza of nations.
But i dont want to sound completely negative about club nights, they do have their bonuses: Being able to get a beer, older crowd, places to sit, security that is keeping the peace instead of babysitting, and no standing in line for an hour before doors open. |

Gotta keep in mind too that alot of these dj's would rather play at clubs now.. some don't even want to play raves anymore since they are, I quote:
"not as intimate" "not sure why the crowd is realyl there" "hard to see really messed up kids" "sound issues often cause the rooms aren't made for a show" Either way, I like them either way as long as its late late late |

Id have to say i perfer going to raves more. 1 big reason is that i dont want to pay the amount of $ for a rave ticket to go to a club night to see 1 dj. BUt club nights with big headliners like Tiesto or whatever is dope. I just dont like the fact that im paying the same amount of money as a rave ticket in which i can party for twice the time and see more headliners
