Congee
I LOVE congee! It's total comfort food for me. I grew up on the stuff and my mom always makes it for me when I'm feeling sick. Didn't have it for quite a while, but I just snagged some tonight and was reminded of how much I've missed it. I usually get seafood congee, but I got the egg and pork one tonight (pai dan seow yok jook :P). Mmm, I love chinese donut too.

yo akeel where you hitting up? theres a place in ubc in the village that gives alotta donut. its not bad either
damn seriously the congee in hk was the BOMB! we'd pay like 2 bucks for the entire meal which was a big bowl of congee, a donut, and some noodles. we would walk out SOOO damn full but wayyyy more satisfied. definetly beats mcdonalds and all that whiteboy shit :tounge1: |

mmm, damn straight yau ja gwai is good! and when it's wrapped in the rice roll (yau tiew), it's SOOOOO wicked. there's this place on broadway and main that has really good ones. nice and crispy still.
man, i want to go for another bowl today. i love that restaurant on fraser...i think it's around 50th ave? and they're open late...siew yeh! :P but homemade is always the best. less corn starch so it's not as thick and goopy. i don't really like it szechuan style though, where it's basically JUST rice and water with no chicken stock and the pieces of rice aren't boiled down. |

chinese donut (yao cha gwi) is good but theres a different kind of chinese donut only served at certain places that can be just as good if not better to some people called (ngou lay so). 1 palce that does serve it is On main and broadway. I dont remember the english name of the aplce only the chinese name but its good shit. Rite outside of the front door is a busstop for a bline bus heading west bound.

and i don't like to put chili oil in my congee...only in dishes like fried rice/noodles, or any kind of noodles in soup like wonton mein. i like to put white pepper in my congee. |
