roar.. im one of those girls who dig around til there is a good cell deal kinda person.. since its the only bill i pay.
right now i pay 35 for 100 mins unlim evenings + weekends right now and for personal use its plenty perfect (i hardly get any phone calls).. but when there are tons of raves going on (sadly) my bill can shoot up to 100 a month.. disgusting. and its 35..plus all the other crap fees and my 5 dollars extra for text msging. im thinkin about pushin it to the fido 40 dollars plan.. but i really dont talk on that phone THAT MUCH.. i have a friend who just changed to that plan and he uses the phone wayyyy more than i do..and it doesn't feel right to have the same plan as him. when some days i dont even get a single phone call. from another friend there is a corporate bell plan which is only 20 dollars a month 300 mins unlim evenings and weekends.. startin at 8...OUCH. its much cheaper and the minutes are great, BUT that means i have to change companies, buy a new phone and sign a stupid contract. worth it? i duno. with the fido new unlim plan i get the 50 dollar managment fee waived as well..and on top of the 40 its all the other crap fees (text msging, voicemail, etc).. arghz im frustrated right now.. it's just because my use of my cell phone changes quite often. |

fido has a rockin plan, and I do think their contract plan is a better quality then their pay-as-u-go
their $40 plan includes unlimited local calls anytime, they advertise it like a house line you take with you. sadly they charge extra for txt msg, caller id, advanced voicemail. so your still not gunna excape $50 a month bills. www.cityfido.ca |

Fido = great if your living downtown, working travelling downtown and within the greater vancouver area, Fido coverage is prone to the dense areas of the country.
Rogers = great if your moving abroad, travelling between cities and not confined to working in the bigger cities., Bell & Telus = they have excellent coverage back east. and for people complaining about reception and other problems... first think about that new phone your getting, don't pick up a cheap ass $50 for with shit RF. it also matters what band your phone is operating on, 800 / 900 / 1800 / 1900. btw: Fido is the ONLY provider that has a tower up at SFU. The Fido plan sounds great IMO. I pay 30 a month to Telus for home line and thats with nothing, jus base. So 40 for any time cell phone is a good deal. I'm going to wait tho since other cell companies are going to have to do something to compete to keep buisness, maybe find one for 35 with cheaper phone, etc.
Especially considering Telus is screwed right now, they may have the CRTC lowering their rates because of crappy service. Plus Shaw is really killing them now with the internet. |

The key thing about CityFido is number portability, which Rogers and Telus cannot provide at this time. With number portability you can take your landline and port it to your cell phone. This great for university students / business people as it allow them to port their home / business number to their mobile phone.
As of now you CANNOT port cellular numbers to another cellular number. |

I pay way too much for my phone bills... I always go over my stupid daytime minutes. My bill's anywhere from $100-200/month. I'd switch companies but I didn't like Roger's service... and I wanna keep my number.
How can I talk Telus outta raping my ass??? |

I have the same problem as Sarah... I've had my current cell number for over 8 years and I'd dump Telus ages ago if it wasn't for the fact I needed the number.
I wonder what my chances would be to get a better plan if I threatened to move? |
