heard it doesn't even compare to the original one for the mac. Also eats up memory I heard.

^It does use alot of resources, but as far as I can tell, it's exactly like iTunes for Mac.

Only real reason they did this was so that they could open up the iTunes Music Store to Windows users really.

Don't expect much else for the x86 from Apple anytime soon.

what does itunes do that winamp cant? my friend used to use it all the time on his ibook and it didnt seem like anything special... just had a nice sleek look to it

Interesting ways of arranging playlists...

Actually uses what you've been listening a lot to lately to formulate playlists and stuff like that...

Also, you can buy music off the internet at a buck a song....

the best development so far in this whole thing is Apple's CFO saying that iTunes would be a "trojan horse" for Apple inside Windows.

i'm guessing the CTO had a few words with him afterwards on things not to say when talking about network apps.

Itunes also makes it only a two click process to burn your cds from a playlist and to rip your cds and as dave said you can set up "intelligent" playlists. I find its just a nice and simple mp3 player with all the features I want. Obviously it probably integrates real well with the ipod which has a pretty big market share for mp3 players. 34% I think.

iPods are sweet, and if/when i get one i'll be using iTunes to sync my ipod with my comp. but if sony pulls atrac3 compression out of their ass and into an md player, i'll be all over that instead.
