Why don't they let her die?

I don't think there is anything more painful that watching a love one wither away and suffer or be in a vegetative state.
I don't know if I could ever make a decision to have the plug pulled on a family member or a loved one, but at the same time I am glad my Dad passed away quickly and painlessly when his time came up. |

what an awful situation - I for one am all about a person's right to die -
I personally believe that hundreds of people are kept alive on feeding tubes and ventilators all for the the comfort of those who surround them and those who can afford to keep them alive - there may be room for improvement, but realistically this poor woman is beyond that - video does show her head moving from side to side - but that doesn't mean she's controling, nor does it mean she's aware of it "We see people at our Joni and Friends family retreat who are far more disabled than Terri," Tada said. "They come to these retreats with feeding tubes, with ventilators. They have no cognitive skills. They cannot seem to recognize their loved ones, and yet they have a right to live. They have a right to human treatment. They have a right to be fed. They have a right to rehabilitative therapy. And these are the things that up until this point have been denied Terri." -- Umm have no cognitive skills? My inturpretation od this is that these people have no obvious brain action - What is the quality of life for them? What is the quality of life for Teri? r ehabiliatative therapy doesn't =rehabilitation I better make a note (like Kramer tried to) that I have no desire to be kept alive on feeding tubes and vetilators - I know my parents would undersand that as my wish even without the writing....but just in case although i bet if it came down to it - my note would be argued in courts too Death is natural - it hurts, but sometimes you have to let go. |
