he may play some of the same tunes each time he plays out, but why not drop the bombs that make the crowd go nuts. last time i checked that was the dj's job. and i think he rocks |

DJ Whatever
Your comments are assinine. As Mojo stated, obviously a DJ is going to drop the tracks that are hot and that the crowd wants to hear. By your comments, I'll assume you caught Hirshee's set at Spooky. I don't know what you saw and heard, but I know what I saw and heard... Hundreds of partiers busting ass to some of the phatest Funky House Vancouver has to offer. Hirshee's sets are just as repetetive as any other DJ who plays out a lot. Would you prefer he substituted shitty tracks you have never heard of for the dope ones that everyone loves? There's only a certain number of good tracks that are available, and you can bet your ass that if any good ones come out, Hirshee knows about them. Since DJ Whatever calls himself a DJ, maybe he would like to take over Hirshee's next set and see if he can make the crowd dance? |

Of course there are a lot of people that know shit all about the music and will dance to anything... that's exactly the same for every DJ no matter what genre they spin.
But don't make a fool of yourself and say that everyone was high and dosn't apreciate the good shit when they hear it. It is a simple fact that at Spooky, and every other party Hirshee spins at, he has crowd of devoted dancers that show up and bust ass for his sets. There is no way you can deny that. As far as them "only liking disco because it's cool now", well no shit Sherlock. People like what they like, and music comes and goes in trends. As Attila said, Hirshee has an awesome attitude, and is not cocky at all. You would never see him hating on other DJ's or anyone else on this board. So he's popular right now... what is your problem with that? Hirshee started right at the bottom like everyone else, and he proved his worth to get to where he is now. Do you have some sort of personal vendetta against him? |

1) i never said that i didnt like hershee... i actually rather do like him 2) there are enough good tracks out there to throw a little variety into the set... so dont act like there is a shortage of tracks... im not saying he should completely change his set and not play the tracks people like but still, im sure he could cut one or two regular tracks to add a few new ones... 3) i do not need to be able to Dj well to give my opinion on one... does a flim critic need to be able to produce a film? No.. 4) even if you dont agree with my comments pal, dont you start telling me what i say is assinine because as far as i see it, you obviously didnt understand what i was trying to say... that was not *repeat* not a post to bash hershee, so next time you reply to my posts, you should actually take the time to understand what im saying OK? thanks... thanks for all the support guys, i really do appreciate it. =)
dj whatever, everyone666 - variety in a set is definitely important and something that i usually try to do. over the last couple of months i have played similar track in a set but it's usually only a few tracks that i frequently play. in fact everytime i pack my record bag for a gig, i usually don't even bring half the records i dropped from the previous set i played. as for there being a shortage of tracks being produced there isn't, however there's definitely a hell of a lot less records being pressed on vinyl. i'm not using this as an excuse but nowadays i'll be happy if a get 1-2 new records a week. |
