It was weird though. All the kids thought they were super cool when they tried to do liquid to Sandstorm. |

i was dance president throughout grade 9-12 and yea.. what did my school dances look like? :hehe: they weren't mini raves "per say"... glowsticks are money makers... people like them.... the usual hired djs usually throw in a few mainstream TECHNO tracks... sandstorm baby. i duno.. they were highschool dances.. dont think you can find such dances anywhere else.
techno was HATED at my school... so yea. if you started busting out liquid and "footwork" ud be stared down at... i remember being uncomfortably wiggling at my school dances. breaks/dnb/house was not introduced in anyway... only mainstream crap..and yes they're crap. my highschool was all about the grade 12 guys hittin up the grade 8 girls. oh the memories. i havent been to school dance since grade 9 and that was at a catholic school before they booted me. i hated it, all i wanted to do was have a lil fun, administrators are such party poopers. it was never like a rave, more like a dictatorship under the disguise of "fun"

mine were about top 40, getting drunk, and smoking as fast as you could when the smoke machine came on.
same old grade 12 boys trying to hit up the grade 9 girls.. but i dont remember any glow sticks. and not any rave music either. well daft punk and chemical brothers were played but thats it. there used to be fights between the half naked girls on who got to dance on the mini stages... my friend and i pulled out a table from the cafiteria and made our own stage. our dances were basically just reasons for the slutty girls to get naked and throw their tits in everyones faces, and for the guys to try and score. im not sayin there is anything wrong with this, cause well thats highschool. |

i remember 2 years ago back when I was in grade 11 we basically had a "mini-rave" as a school dance. A Real DJ with tables instead of CDs/DVDs with videos, at like all the other dances. He spun almost ALL house and hardhouse. I had never heard any of the songs before. But that would have been the best school dance in my high school years. EVERYONE loved it too..
and yes, at almost all the dances my school had, they sold glowsticks |

My school dances were the lamest event of my high school years. Stupid 'MuchDance' DJ's spinning old top 40's. Once in a while they'd get a good song in there then fuck it up mid-song. Made me loose my groove and all. And glowsticks? Man that would have been wicked. All we had were half-assed lasers and big screens that were SUPPOSED to have a video on them. Most of the time it was just a blue screen.
As you can tell, high school has scarred me for life. |
