Anxiety/Panic attacks
Ughhh!! I hate it when I get a panic attack! I had one this morning and thouhght I was going to to die, just cause I was coughing alot :soak: I have tried the drugs and done the therapy thing, and for the most part have learned how to control them.... sort of. If you have any advice as to how you control your attacks or just any good info on the topic I am all ears.

I used to get them like clockwork last year, and I'm proud to say that this year I've only had two!!
I'm not entirely certain if medication is always the answer, especially for lots of people it's much more of a temporary condition. Cut down on things like sugars and caffiene (no brainer) Some more tips: -take panax (aka Chinese) ginseng, either in the morning or before you go to bed (or both!) -Start taking a vitamin B complex (usually labelled for 'stress'). From reading I've done, vitamin b3 or 'niacin' is really really helpful in this -Increase intake of leafy green vegetables -Take calcium suppliments before bed If you really want to change your eating habits, etc. to help you, I'd really reccomend you talk with your Dr. about it as well! good luck! As myra said, your eating habits have alot to do with them as well. Stay far far away from large amounts of sugar and caffeine. Alot of the time it's thoughts in your head that trigger a panic/anxiety attack, but I can drink a cup of starbucks coffee and be proppelled into an uncontrollable freak out because of the caffeine in it.
I also have a program that consists of series of tapes and a work bork, it's wonderful. I've barely used the thing and it has changed me so much. I'll get the info later and post it for anyone who is interested. It's quite a chunk out of your wallet but they are very flexible about working somethign out if you honestly can't afford it. |
