Late night bar closings not that bad.....

Well apparently 3 Vancouver city council memebrs think that the 4am closing isn't so bad and they're recommending to keep it... THUMBS UP!!!

Vancouver councillors bar-hop to study late night closings

VANCOUVER (CBC) - Three Vancouver city councillors spent Saturday night bar-hopping, to see for themselves how the experiment with 4 a.m. downtown bar closures is working.
Officials at Vancouver city hall are recommending the closing time be pushed back to 3 a.m. – to ease police concerns about rowdiness and neighbourhood complaints about noise.

But councillor Tim Stevenson says he and councillors Peter Ladner and Raymond Louie found all was calm on their night on the town.

He says there were lots of young people out having fun, adding there's no reason to adjust the closing time.

He says there were some problems when the 4 a.m. closing time was first established, because it was new and some people didn't behave well.

But he says there is going to be some violence whether downtown bars close at 4 a.m. or 2 a.m.

Stevenson plans to make a recommendation to keep the 4 a.m. closing time for another year.

Vancouver council is set to debate the issue on Thursday.

Either keep it at 4am or take it back to 2am.

But taking it back an hour is NOT gonna make a difference in anything. That's a lame compromise :soak:

Jingles is on a distinguished road
I'd rather 3 then 2 if that's how it has to be...i Can't go back to 2, it's simply too early..... but if they think 3 a.m closures will make the kids any less rowdy - they'd better come up with a new plan! Kids are rowdy at 8 or 10 or 2 or whenever....

I don't think it matters what time bars close...as long as the bouncers only let ppl who's cool and not those gangstas-wannabe in there....i don't think there's much problem...but i guess bouncers can never tell if one is peaceful or not.

Meh!...just speaking out my opinion.

why not let bars stay open 24/7?
the only people who will really be affected by that are the hardcore partiers and the hopeless whine-o's
in either case, hardcore partiers and hopeless whine-o's are gonna stay up late drinking regardless of if there's a bar open or not, so why not give them a place to spend their time where they'll be relatively quiet, as opposed to letting rambling drunks stumble all over the streets babbling at poor people named me who are waiting to catch the bus home?

Vancouver doesn't have the population density to accomodate a 24hour need.

Miami, Toronto, Montreal, New York are NOT Vancouver, yet.

we live in a lame city. where people arent able to realize that people are goign to complain about noise and drunken violence weather the clubs close at 2am or 4am...

since thats the case im surprised peopel arent trying to ban night clubs all together..or make em close at 10pm..what a bunch of chumps

I only go to clubs when there are mountain bike movie premiers, like the one last weekend at Sonar, or the one at the Purple Onion.
