Car stereo help
Dammit.
So I bought a deck at Future shop, extended warranty. Driving along, it's working fine, hit a bump, it craps out. but it still ejects discs and I can put them in as well. But I can't even get the radio to work. So I get a new one. Put that one in. Driving along. Hit a bump. Damn thing craps out, same problem as the last one, but this one is only 3 hours old. Go, get a new one. this one won't play at all, but it has power, will accept CDs and eject them. So I go back, get a salesman to grab one, we try it, same damn thing. Even with only the power hooked up (no speakers), nothing really happens, but it has power. I'm not running an amp, just 4 speakers. Any suggestions? I donut want to spend any money to get it installed, I am at my wit's end. I have checked all the fuses, they are all fine, I got nothing here :( |

OOPS!
Forgot you don't run an amp. =P The blue goes to the amp to activate it. Anyway... So you wired it up right, not like there are too many options here, but have you checked to make sure you have proper voltage coming from the battery? Like if you turn the car on does the deck work? When the car is on you get 14.4V due to the alternator driving the equipment vs. whatever the battery may be at 10-12V which might be too low to activate the unit. |

Your deck should only work when they key is in the ignition and turned to the accessory position or if the car it running. |

You ever notice how all of your presets and clock settings stick around until you actually unhook the car's battery? |

it really does depend on the model cd player, any new deck will have a constant power supply to keep the time current. some decks will use that power to be able to eject cd's without the deck being powered on.
in my old car, it had a deck that didn't have a constant power wire, only accessory, so we had to wire one straight from the battery, and it worked fine. |
