I don't want get into a whole Mac VS PC debate, since I believe it's all about the user's personal preference. I personally don't think "one is better for this and the other is better for that."

I've always had people screaming "Macs are for graphics" at me... Well, for the last 3 years I've been using G4s in the studio for graphic design and I can still say that I would rather go home and do all my work on my PC.

the new g5s are great for graphic and video work

that are so clocked up they're almost a waste of money for audio production... g4s good enough for that.

and just for the record...

macs are for people who want to get shit done with their computer...

pc are for people who like to get shit done to their computer

As far as hardware goes, unfortunately Apple's lost their edge. Right now the one thing propping them up is their Operating System which is smooth as all bloody hell, however, I have no real use for more than one different type of *nix, so I'd rather save myself about a third of the price and build my own Athlon64 and just use gentoo or LinuxFromScratch to compile Linux for 64-bit native use.

I'd _like_ a G5 but $3k-4k is just a bit too much for me. I'd sooner shell out $1.5k for a G4 iBook....
