What to get someone for their 80th Bday?
Alright, I have my grandmothers birthday coming up this weekend, she is turning eighty. Its a big celebration and all of the family has either taken a day off work or found ways around it. There probably isn't a whole lot of grandparents that live to eighty and are in decent health. So, what do you get as a gift for someone with very little in common with your interests.
She isn't exactly up with the times. I went over for dinner tonight as they like seeing their grand children and she asked me about my place. One of her questions was does your place have a "fridge". The sweetest lady you'll ever meet but she hasn't got a grasp on things of today. Taking that into account you can scrap any electronic gizmo like DVD players, or PDAs. It would most likely be a "tool of the devil" in her eyes. Their upbringing was quite religious(christian) so I'm thinking of going into a book store and look for some nice picture with a bible quote on it. I really don't have alot of ideas. My creative flare isn't geared for people over fifty. In her spare time she does german crossword puzzles and makes garments from yarn. They play a lot of board/card games but since they are getting up their in ages now learning a brand new game could get a little complicated. What did you get your grandparents for a gift? Even if it doesn't suit what I'm looking for let me know anyways and maybe it will spark some more ideas in my head. Thanks people. :cake: -Brad- Last edited by doubletake; Dec 11, 03 at 01:32 PM. |

Um... for the grandfather, a book chronicaling Canada's role in warfare in the first half of the 20th century, and for me grandmother, a gift certificate to the Riverboat Casino.
...Doubt your grandmother would be interested in any of those choice, eh? |
