^^Cosmic Trigger has been revised, now if my going on a whim in regards to you reading rawilson is wrong, then consider yourself blessed and start reading/laughing.
... "Secularism is the separation of church and state, but it is also the respect of differences" - Bernard Stasi I can't fully disagree with this statement, which is to say that I don't fully agree either. Secularists are right to expose irrationality, fanaticism, and intolerance when they appear in the name of religion, even if the secularists sometimes do so in order to discredit religion as such. However, something as paltry (in regards to start a religous movement) as symbols of pride be it a jewish skull cap or a muslim headscarf is hardly fanaticism/fundamentalism. This is just another way to trivialize serious religious belief (for who knows what the real means are for), and it's sad too. Like you SEAN! I'd probably be more pissed off than anything after all's said and done. ... Also about the whole Illuminati thang (yes, I can hardly contain my glee), Adam Weishaupt founded the Illuminati of Bavaria on May 1, 1776 (coincidentally about 2 months later the US signed it's independence as a country); Originally called the Order of the Perfectibilists. So SEAN!, it's not a question of their existance (regardless of how fantastical it may seem to you), but rather a question of their role - and this is where skepticims should come to play. That is something ebbomega (although I think he is being mostly frivolous in his remark), myself or no one else can decide for you, but if you want to write it all off as gobbly goop without looking into it that's fine too. ... I DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING This remark was made, in these very words, by John Gribbin, physics editor of New Scientist magazine, in a BBC-TV debate with Malcolm Muggeridge, and it provoked incredulity o the part of most viewers. It seems to be a hangover of the medieval Catholic era that causes most people, even the educated, to think that everybody must "believe" something or other, that if one is not a theist, one must be a dogmatic atheist, and if one does not think Capitalism is perfect, one must believe fervently in Socialism, and if one does not have blind faith in X, one must alternatively have blind faith in not-X or the reverse of X. My own opinion is that belief is the death of intelligence. As soon as one believes a doctrine of any sort, or assumes certitude, one stops thinking about that aspect of existence. The more certitude one assumes, the less there is left to think about, and a person sure of everything would never have any need to think about anything and might be considered clinically dead under current medical standards, where absence of brain activity is taken to mean that life has ended. - off rawilson's site. A good read on conspiracy theories |

Anyone else remember the hubbub over an RCMP officer being allowed to wear his turban while one the job? We are reaching the point where we are so concerned about offending people that we are trying to hide who we are 'fundamentally'
The article states that this move to ban 'fanatical' religious gear like headcoverings and large crosses is an attempt so that people can all get along - i suppose they are talking about the segregation and the discrimination that occurs based on religious garb alone . However those who choose to don thier religion 'on their sleeve' have made the choice that their faith is a part of who they are - asking them to remove it woudl be like asking me to take off my pants in a busy mall food court (well not exactly ...) If the French governement is truly interested in ridding thier country of discrimination based on outward appearance they should be banning the male belly shirt or ratty sweatpants --- this is a surefire way to infringe on a persons religious freedom...it's a passive agressive holocaust...remove difference for peace please. |

To be very honest. Too many people with nothing to do but complain about a bunch of shit that really doesn't matter either way. People should stop focusing their time on idiotic problems ad face rel problems. I don't give a crap either way hows about feeding a starving child or supplying medcine to a child barely holding on. I do not mean to sound harsh but come on really whats more important and worth spending more time on. Forshizzle.

Yes and no, I can see that they may have the best of intentions in considering such a thing....however, they are failing to recognize that freedom of religion is a fundamental human right. Similar things have been done in other parts of the world- banning of certain colours because they are 'gang' related is a good example..it is all done in the name of personal safety, but it is still asking someone to project an image of someone they are not in the name of safety. |
