Fear of clowns is actually very common.
As for other strange phobias I don't think it's necessarily very funny. Sure it's odd and it may cause you to giggle but if you were to look at it from their point of view it can be very debilitating. A lot of the times they don't know themselves why they fear broccoli, tin foil, ect. It's not just an "I'm scared" thing either. Phobias are hardcore fears... they can imobilize you and be very traumatizing not to mention incredibly hard to get over. I used to be scared to death of water, bridges and tunnels. The Lions Gate during rush hour traffic was an absolute nightmare for me... in fact I still have problems going over it sometimes. I have to hold my breath in the shower or when I'm washing my face/hair and it makes me cringe when I get my face wet. |
