christmas Suicide

So we get to my grandma's complex, get buzzed in ... turn the corner and see a cop car ...

Turns out the lady that lives beside my grandma - who we used to go over and visit ... had shot herself on christmas morning.



What a way to go.

yea thats unfortunate. reminds me of halloween last year when one of my neighbors shot himself.. after having a stand off with a police SWOT team, all because his wife left him

that sucks... makes you wonder what was so horrible in a persons life that they would see the only way out is to kill themselves.
I mean, I am sure everyone has thought about killing themselves at some point in there life but for the most part we all come back to reality and continue with the daily struggles cause we WANT to live!
I always see it as this.... life is to random to condone killing myself. Whats to say that tomorrow I wont win the lottery or something like that.

but when you're depressed it's that much harder to see the other/better side. everything seems worse off than it really is, therefore making you feel even worse than before. after that, things continually seem worse and it's just a big downward spiral..

it's not always as easy as just "coming back to reality" and there are far more people who never make it back to that reality than you probably realize. it's all a matter of experience..

Yeah exactly crackdragon, consider yourself lucky that you have a positive outlook on life! Being depressed/suicidal is a horrible thing.

I consider myself lucky all the time and my outlook on life is anything but positive. I never said being depressed and suicidal wasnt a hard and horrible thing to go through. I was simply wondering what it was that would make someone decide that today is the day! There is no hope, there is no place, and there is no love for them in this world.
I guess I should have kept my earlier statement to myself, but please dont take it as I am saying I am better than other people who are having a hard time with life.

I never thought you were saying you were better than those having a hard time. I was just pointing out the other side which may have never experienced. It's not something easily understood unless you've been there.. which you've already said you don't get how someone can just choose.

once again, it's all a matter of experience. understanding is always easier if you've been there, and that goes for alot of things life, not just depression or suicide.

we don't know, and probably never will know the whole story. could be a million things that caused this.
