So I get a portable Minidisc player for Christmas. Pretty rocking gift, but when I found out that Sony's proprietary DRM'd software (Ironically enough called "OpenMG") is only Windows-Friendly, it went in for an exchange. Now, I did ask for an iPod, but basically wanted any type of MP3 player that I could just download my music to and go.
So today we returned the Minidisc player and ordered a
Rio Karma 20 from tigerdirect.ca and managed to snag a one-year-warranty with it (one of the disadvantages it has over the iPod is that it only had a 90-day dealy).
Personally I think this is cooler thanks to happy ogg vorbis/flac support. Yeah open codec support! And cheaper too! And transferable over ethernet so I can pretty much hook it up with ANY operating system. I wanna see if I can get it to talk to my
SGI Personal Iris.
Life is grand.
