acquiring/hauling/placing enough grandes to take out a briudge designed to withstand an earthquake will be soooo easy!
we will just pick everything up in the same place as we get the ak 47s! Last edited by rawb; Feb 06, 04 at 11:04 PM. |

i say 4 absolute tops. since when are canadian worried about terrorists? 10 to 1 says i could walk out with a shopping cart full of 'garbage bags'. are you questioning my absolute authority over the universe? |

It would be so easy to take down the Alex Fraser... Just do it at night, a couple dinghys and dark clothing. Haul the Explosives out there set-em up and raft away. BOOM You just made Rush-hour traffic extend another 12 hours. lol I shouldn't post when I'm ripped... :kam:

on any random bridge, a truck full of diesel and fertilizer would gouge a pretty larger crater into the deck. also the blast of the exposion would deform any supports that were under compression. even just a deflection of a few centimeters could create a nasty chain reaction where the beams hit by the blast give way, and the remaining ones fumble under the added load. the 2nd narrows would be extremely susceptible to an attack like this, though the bridge deck would absorb much of the blast and deflect most of the force upwards. however, if another charge were detonated on the water beneath, the bridge would probably be on its way to collapse, or a future controlled demolition.
back to the four grenades, now. they wouldn't even put a dent in the deck of the 2nd narrows. grenades work much better in enclosed spaces. the george massey tunnel, for instance, would be an ideal venue for 4 small explosive charges. especially if one was placed at each entrance and were synchronized to go off at the same time. the blast wave would blow out the windows of any cars in the tunnel. the effect would be even worse in the center of the tunnel where the blast waves would collide. while this wouldn't damage the tunnel to any extent, it would cause absolute chaos with traffic, likely leading to pileups as people change lanes (illegally, i might add) and careen into the walls. the lions gate would be difficult to take out, but could be done if you had access to some exotic explosives. what you'd want is something that burn at an extremely high temperature and could heat up metal in a short period of time. if such a substance could be found outside of nuclear weapons, all you'd need to do it place it on top of one of the cables where it meets up with the concrete anchors. as the metal heated up, it'd lose its strength, leading to the collapse of everything except for the towers. as for the alex fraser, it's a cable stayed bridge meaning there's no single point of failure except for the towers, which are made up of massive amounts of reinforced concrete. i don't think that anything aside from a blasting crew avec drilling rig, or a 747 could do anything to take out that bridge. doesn't anybody here remember Oklahoma - amonia nitrate people!! and instead of using fucking manure you concentrate the shit - if it can take out a 10 story building im pretty sure it could do some damage to the alex fraser (although admidtedly a large plane or the MIR space station would do a better job).
ps. grenades are designed for shrapnel - i.e. killing people, not taking out buildings/structures and they generally are only effective within a relatively small blast radius. |
