Info Lines and Noobs.
Why don't we use Info-Lines to release venue locations like we used to?
We used to do it so we wouldn't get our parties busted on. Or if venues pulled out, we'd have time to find new ones without anyone knowing. It used to build anticipation (finding out it was riverside or the spanish week after week -jk'ing). It made them seem more exclusive. people used to KEEP flyers, now, our flyers are laughed off because what we had, isn't there any more. (atleast i think). The plaza and colliseum used to be like a raver's vacation because you'd know where it was and you'd know it'd be big and nice (big glass hall with carpet and elevator compared to some 'for lease' space, warehouse or banquet hall, turned into rave venue for one night). but when you don't know where it is, it can be a 400 person to even a 3,000 person venue and you wouldn't find out until hours before the party. it's rediculous needing to explain to people 'hey, just call the info-line the night of and it'll give you directions to the venue'. IT'S A RAVE!!!! that's what used to make it cool! the ANTICIPATION! walking up to a HUGE line-up upon arriving to the rave made getting in SO MUCH MORE FUN. What do you guys think? I know announcing venue's has an advantage (and in some cases like the plaza of asians or the colliseum, they're selling points), but don't you think we're missing a crucial element of the rave scene? Fuck, if we went back to info=lines and all the highschoolers got weened out, and all the bar-star clubbers who are too lazy to call, and etc... wouldn't that be exactly what people want? i dunno. hsbc. i dunno, i'm just hoping this will turn into a conversation starter. |

i dunno man, almost all the parties i've been to in the past year with the exception of massives had infolines... and i don't see how having infolines would "ween" people out, doesn't take a genious to phone a #.. and i don't know why you would want to keep raves so exclusive.. old retiring ravers need to be replaced with new people and so on or the scene would completely die off, instead of expanding like it should be.. is that what you want?

haha good call lawerence. I actually miss the info lines although back in the day the infoline was almost useless cause if it was at plaza it would say so on the flyer and whether or not it would be at riverside or spanish was usually pretty obvious anyways. But it still provided some suspense cause back then you never know if the partied got moved last minute or other changes. None the less i miss those days. sigh

You are totally right....
But think, a party used to explode with people even if it was only word of mouth. Those are my favorite kind of party and those most likely to use an info line. But now its seems if you don't promote your party to death no one will show up. Is it all the party goers have moved to clubs with the new 4:00 closing time? I WANT A GOOD OLD FASHIONED SWEATBOX BARN BURNER (usually involves an infoline) I guess the check point died before info lines too.... |

or maybe these things are still happening but nobody actually gives a shit even though they say they do - thus why they don't seem to be aware of it. |

bahahaha
And we'll make them answer trivia question and solve puzzles and compete in survivor-like challenges to get the next checkpoint location. It'll be the best thing ever!!!! I'm not sure about the extra !!'s.. =\ but it makes my raver name look extra special! hahaha |
