Don't think I've had one...most of my jobs have been at least barely tolerable...

Delivering newspapers
1-900 line operator
Inventory counter
Library assistant
Bingo caller
Computer sales
Technical support

Nope, nothing totally hideous...the worst would have been computer sales at Future Shop, but I'm sure it was nowhere near as bad as picking up dog poop...

Selling knives.

Damned good knives but it was still just door-to-door styled marketing. Lasted a week and kept the knives.

Cutco isn't really door-to-door though is it? It's not cold calling. Cause you arrange to meet up with people who WANT to see the presentation, if I'm not mistaken?

I did actual cold calling door-to-door, and that was BRUTAL. Worked 70 hour weeks, commission ONLY, had to put up with people yelling at me, doors slamming in my face, dogs chasing me, and just some absolute psychotic people who didn't understand ANYTHING at all. I still didn't mind on the days that I did well, especially since I was working with some really awesome people, but on the bad days, it was EXTREMELY discouraging. Imagine working a 12 hour day, going through all of that, and then making $0-$50 bucks! HORSE SHIT!

lol i knew a guy who did door to door in toronto, and he had some funny stories.

imagine a seven foot tall black guy, all bundled up from the cold, knocking at your door when the sun is down. lol him and i laughed at some of his stories.

It's still solicitation. Just because you choose to first sell to people that are less likely to reject you because they know you doesn't make it different. They only recommend that strategy because of the lesser chance of rejection. Eventually, you'll run out of people who know people who know people; but in the end, you'll run out of people that may only have a passing knowledge of your existance, at which point it becomes no more than door-to-door soliciting.

As I said, a crummy way to earn money... :soak:
